Gonna watch Prime Cut (1972) this weekend. One of my favorites. I live in KC and it was shot in and around here. For those who haven't seen it. Hackman is a mob guy in Kansas City. Runs a slaughterhouse and meat packing plant. He owes Chicago mob money and every time they send somebody to collect it Hackman kills them. He grinds one guy into hamburger and sends the hamburger back to Chicago mob. This pisses them off so they send tough guy Lee Marvin to KC to collect the money. Worth checking out.
Will have to check out Night Moves soon. RIP Mr. Hackman.

Police moving the deaths to the suspicious category. Dog was in a bathroom closet; wife dead in the bathroom with pills scattered around her and Hackman found dead in a mud room. No signs of gun violence supposedly. No sign of gas leak either.

Mississippi Burning and Crimson Tide were my favorites.
I remember seeing Crimson Tide in the theater with a friend who passed away in 2018 so that will be a weird rewatch if I watch it again sometime in the future.
Was Welcome to Mooseport his last theatrical movie?
Runaway Jury was just added to Netflix if anyone wants to revisit one of his more recent films from 2003.

What probably happened is his wife fell and knocked over the heater. Then he fell trying to get to her. Then time just passed. I don’t think it’s foul play or anything. It’s still sad. He was such a great person and actor.

The deaths of Gene Hackman, his wife Betsy Arakawa and one of their dogs has been ruled “suspicious” enough to require a full investigation.
The front door of the residence was unsecured & opened with no obvious signs of a gas leak.

I recently revisited his 1991 movie Class Action. Not many talk about that movie. I didn’t care for it when I initially saw it 30 plus years ago. But I actually thought it was good seeing it again. A very underrated law thriller. Really good performances by Hackman and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio as his daughter.

Not going to assume anything about what happened.
RIP to a legend. I missed seeing him in films. Some actors just feel like friends and family. Gene Hackman felt like that.
I was mostly introduced to him by Enemy of the State (yea yea I was 15 at the time). And it branched out from there. He was in a lot of films that I started watching around that time. I haven't seen many of his lesser-known films. I'll have to take a look.

As more info comes in, sounds like it could have been a bad scene. Probably too soon to say this but what the hell, it is going to make a very interesting and sad finale in the future bio-pic.

There was an open prescription bottle and pills scattered on a countertop near Arakawa.A maintenance worker reported that the home’s front door was open when he arrived to do routine work on Wednesday, and he called police after finding the bodies, investigators said. Hackman appeared to have fallen, a deputy observed. He was wearing a blue t-shirt, gray sweatpants and slippers. A pair of sunglasses and a cane were nearby.

I have gotten a chuckle out of people still thinking Wes Anderson could get him back in a movie.
He hated Anderson after Tenenbaums. Apparently was telling him to grow up and called him a c—t on the set a lot; largely due to Anderson at that time being up his own ass and not the most commanding on set. Murray ended up having to be a go between.
