Re: Super 8 (produced by JJ Abrams)
why does everyone assume it's a monster? it's a small alien with telekinetic abilities.

So, naturally, he won't escape that box. |
Re: Super 8 (produced by JJ Abrams)
Well, wouldn't an alien running a muck and wreaking havok be a monster?

Re: Super 8 (produced by JJ Abrams)
Super 8 will be filming in my hometown of Weirton, WV next month. JJ was in town this week. Didn't spot him, though. Supposedly part of the movie will be filmed in WV, and part in Las Vegas.

Re: Super 8 (produced by JJ Abrams)
Spoiler:
I'm still hoping that it is somehow related to Cloverfield. |

I need more Cloverfield. That's one movie I would love to see a sequel to. That film absolutely fascinated me...specifically the giant fucking monster aspect. |
Re: Super 8 (produced by JJ Abrams)
Cloverfield was one of the best times i've had at the theatres
isn't that great of a movie but if you didn't see it on the big screen you missed out |

this looks fucking awesome...i think JJ has captured late 70's/early 80's Spielberg perfectly. so glad we're getting an ORIGINAL blockbuster this summer. |

Re: Super 8 (produced by JJ Abrams)
I loved Cloverfield, and was discouraged by how much hate the movie got. I guess people have certain expectations of movies

Re: Super 8 (produced by JJ Abrams)
I hope the sequel is in 3D and the title is: Cloverfield 2: This is NOT Art!

Re: Super 8 (produced by JJ Abrams)
Eh, all I heard about was how great of a monster movie it was and it really wasn't that great. I mean, if you're just saying that it's great because of the fact there are few monster movies, that's damning with faint praise.
This actually looks cool though; in case people are wondering, the music is from Cocoon. |
Re: Super 8 (produced by JJ Abrams)
Naw, it was suspenseful, fun and entertaining. I couldn't care less about the monster itself.
|
Re: Super 8 (produced by JJ Abrams)
Maybe Super 8 is the real ending to Lost?

Re: Super 8 (produced by JJ Abrams)
I loved Cloverfield too and think a sequel or prequel or anything in the same universe would be great.
I thought it did a great job of showing just enough, but not too much. Kind of like Jaws in a way. I mean Jaws didn't show the shark much because the shark hardly ever worked and they probably showed it as much as they possibly could but it ended up being great because less was more when it came to that movie. Cloverfield showed just enough of the monster to make it interesting and cool and it did a great job of depicting the utter chaos that was happening. The monster didn't need big glossy closeups to accomplish that and if it had gone the route of Godzilla, for example, the movie would have been much worse in my opinion. I kind of liken it to the home video footage shot during 9/11. Everything was shaky, nothing was in focus, nobody knew for sure what was going on, but everybody knew that whatever it was it was bad. Just mass chaos. I just thought it was a great movie and even though giant monster movies have been done hundreds and hundreds of times before, it seemed completely original. Anyway, it looks like that train scene from the original trailer will be in the actual movie. Looks cool. This trailer definitely had a Spielberg vibe to it. |

I didn't like the E.T. feel the SB spot gave me.

As much as I can't stand ET, I don't mind that vibe from this film just because of the balance between the innocence and the action.

I loved the SB spot. Felt like something from Spielberg's glory days. It's prob my most-anticipated for the summer.
