re: Enter the Void--Gaspar Noé

Saw this the other night with two friends who have a very accepting taste in movies.

This was the result of us seeing the late showing:

I felt disoriented for over an hour.
My one friend was unable to sleep soundly the rest of the night.
His wife said it was the worst movie she's ever seen.

Highly recommended.

re: Enter the Void--Gaspar Noé

I know I can see this on demand, but there's been no word if this being shown in DC. Landmark's website makes no mention if they are booking this at E Street, but there's hope that maybe the new West End Cinema (opening mid October) will book this.

re: Enter the Void--Gaspar Noé

Saw this yesterday in Minneapolis. This is a film that if seen at all, needs to be seen on the big screen.

Absolutely a singular unique vision.

I can't say I loved every minute of it, and I agree with the DVDTalk review, it can be a slog at times.

There are images and sequences in this film, that gripped me and have stayed with me in ways no other film has.

Simply incredible technique!

Last night while going to bed, the film was totally haunting me.

Amazon has two pre-orders up for different dvd versions:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0048LPRCS

http://www.amazon.com/Enter-the-Void...237655&sr=1-11

And DVDAficionado says there will be a bluray the same date:

re: Enter the Void--Gaspar Noé

I'm gonna guess the 20 dollar one is a 2 disc with both versions of the movie included

I'm surprised this isn't getting a Criterion release since most of IFC's go that route - guess I'll have to import the UK DVD edition which is a longer cut just over 160 minutes in length. (still not complete as the longer Cannes premier version)

I'm really hoping this will bring Noe's other movies onto blu-ray, too.

I wouldn't say most. Most of IFC Films' output has been making its way to Blu-ray through MPI. Only a select few have gotten the Criterion treatment (oh man, I would've fucking killed for a Criterion of In the Loop).

For those of you who are unwilling to gamble with a purchase, IFC Films with their arrangement with Netflix will have Enter the Void to watch on Instant Streaming (in HD) on January 25th (the DVD/BD release date).

I'm still hoping this sees a release in Vegas, but considering most of IFC's latest output hasn't, that'll be probably a no.

re: Enter the Void--Gaspar Noé

Great style and vision, but this movie was 45 min too long.

I feel the same as I did about Irreversible - many things I like and many things I don't like about the film. But a good piece of work overall.

re: Enter the Void--Gaspar Noé

watched this last week... and it was the most anticipated viewing for me this year (next to Black Swan maybe). visually it was more than fulfilling, yet the story lacked heavily. i gave it an 8/10 solely because this is a mind-blowing, original visual masterpiece.

a Criterion 'IN the Loop' would have been major cool.

looks like the US video release is longer 160 minute cut of the film.

re: Enter the Void--Gaspar Noé

Watch this last night via nextflix streaming (Yes they have it in HD) it was the 143 min cut and thank God. As it is iw was waaaaaaay too long. I really liked the first half but I felt like Noe fell in love with his own camera style and some of the floating sequences and the light flashing stuff was extended to the point where I got the itch to forward it. The story it self felt like a void overall I give it a 7/10 and that cause I love Noe and bumped him a point cause I wanted to like it much more than I did.

re: Enter the Void--Gaspar Noé

watched the final screening at the Alamo Drafthouse here in Austin last weekend - it was the 160-minute director's cut, and i must say this was far too superfluous. i saw the On Demand 143-minute cut, and i thought even that one dragged a bit - this director's cut was just way too much.

i will say... it was worth sitting through the extra 20 minutes just to experience this on the big screen. watching this on my 55-inch plasma tv didn't do this film the right justice.

re: Enter the Void--Gaspar Noé

Saw the long version, on the small screen, and still found the movie to be a masterpiece, one so rich and haunting it is beyond words. I think it is a landmark achievement rifht up there with the super weird art film classics like mulholland drive, schenedy new york, dogville.
