That's just stupid and short-sighted on Fox's part since we all know nothing nothing guarantees box office gold like Will and Jaden Smith starring in a family drama set in space.

Pushing your children into movies when they are very limited or completely lacking in acting talent is the wrong move. Let him go out and find success in life instead of trying to push success on him because it isn't working. Aside from that, I'm glad Will Smith isn't returning as I have grown tired of his cheesy charm.

I was down for this until they announced one of the characters is the son of Will Smith's character. To me, that is even worse than actually casting his son. Saving the world/galaxy/universe as a family business is one of the dumbest fucking tropes in Hollywood.

I heard Will wouldn't return because they nixed the idea of his daughter performing the movie's theme song: "I Whip Them Aliens Back and Forth." (Or should that be "Forf"?)

I like Will Smith, but I also understand that Will Smith tends to *play* Will Smith in a lot of his movies. And I admit that has lost its charm.

The only movie I forgive this is "Men in Black". Any other movie, "Will Smith" is the right amount of smart talk and toughness to win the day. But in MiB, simply being that character isn't quite enough to get things done. Which makes the guys at MiB not being impressed at all by his antics 2x as funny.

Is "Survivor's Remorse" a sequel to that reality show, "Survivor"?

The film has been slotted for a May production start and Fox has staked a June 24, 2016, release date.
That's only a year for production, editing, special effects, marketing, etc. Isn't that an unusually short span of time for such an epic, big-budget production? Unless this is a DTV sequel after all.

Without Randy Quaid, this is already a dud, he was the heart and soul of the 1st movie.

Something tells me he couldn't come back, even if he wanted to.

I'm guessing that Jasmine's son, now an adult, will play a bigger part in the sequel. Maybe he'll be in the Navy like his step Dad (Smith's character)??

I heard on the radio yesterday (With Vivica's casting) that it is Direct to video. No idea if its true.

Hiller was a Marine.

And if they're going to have Hiller's stepson as a character, they might as well agree to give Jaden the role so they can get Will back.

Why would Hiller's stepson look just like him?

there is no way this is a DTV flick. it has name recognition and was a highly profitable movie when it came out. even if they got a bunch of nobodies to star in this, it would still be a theatrical movie.

We live in a world where Furious 7 will be nominated and win for Best Picture. Anything is possible.

Based on Vin Diesel's heartfelt enthusiasm, if I were an Academy member in early 2016, I would nominate FURIOUS 7 for Best Picture even if I hadn't seen it and even if I did see it and didn't like it. Sometimes we have to put personal feelings aside to serve a greater cause...

'Independence Day 2': Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch Returning
Director Roland Emmerich announced the news on Twitter.

Pullman is reprising his Independence Day role for the upcoming sequel, alongside Judd Hirsch, who played Julius Levinson, father to Jeff Goldblum's computer genius character David in the original. Roland Emmerich, who is returning to direct, announced the castings on Twitter Friday.

Independence Day 2 is slated for June 24, 2016, just under 20 years after the original film hit theaters July 3, 1996. Goldblum is also returning to star alongside series newcomers Liam Hemsworth and Jessie Usher, who will play the son of the cocky Air Force pilot played by Will Smith in the original.

Pullman's president Whitmore has remained popular in the years since the film hit theaters, with his speech on the eve of the film's final act among its most quoted moments.

The first Independence Day grossed more than $800 million worldwide. Dean Devlin, Emmerich and Harald Kloser are producing the sequel. James A. Woods and Nicolas Wright wrote the most recent draft.
