Oscar snubbs
Watchmen should have been nominated (and won) for these categories:
Best Film Best Supporting Actor (Jackie Earl Haley)* Best Cinematography *well to be fair, Waltz was very good too so this could have been a coin flip Any other obvious snubbs this year? |
Re: Oscar snubbs
I think Michael Stuhlbarg deserved a nomination for A Serious Man.

Re: Oscar snubbs
I loved Watchmen, but I only agree that Haley should have been nominated for Best Supporting Actor. Waltz should win.

Re: Oscar snubbs
I am still hurting that Keenan and Kell were snubbed for Good Burger. Hell, the whole film was snubbed.
|
Re: Oscar snubbs
If Watchmen was snubbed for anything, it was the Golden Raspberries.

I think similar things happened with Tommy Lee Jones when he was nominated for In the Valley of Elah and also appeared in No Country for Old Men. And DiCaprio's performance in The Departed may have helped him get in for Blood Diamond. Seems like voters take those into consideration if someone has a really good year. |

^I haven't seen Messenger yet, but I didn't care for Daniels direction in Precious. He did a great job with his actors, not so much with everything else. |

Masterpiece? You should have just made a "Watchmen got snubbed!" thread instead of an all inclusive Oscar thread. The movie it too ripe for ridicule.

Watchmen isn't quite trash, but the idea of even considering the film for Best Picture is laughable, and considering the dozens of better films in 2009, a bit insulting.
The thread is asking for Oscar Snubs and isn't specifically a Watchmen thread. Please don't threadcrap. I didn't threadcrap, groucho did, and I started the thread so i can praise Watchmen as much as I please. |
Re: Oscar snubbs
mark my words, no movie that ends with a song by my chemical romance will ever win best picture.
|
Re: Oscar snubbs
To be fair, Watchmen might have been Best Picture material, but it was brought down by the bad cinematography and the poor portrayal of Rorschach.
