The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Signs Writer
Source: The Hollywood Reporter
March 24, 2011

We're still more than a year away from Marc Webb's reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man, but The Hollywood Reporter already has some news about the proposed sequel with the announcement that James Vanderbilt will be returning as screenwriter.

Vanderbilt, whose credits also include Darkness Falls, Zodiac and The Losers, supplied the initial draft of the upcoming film (and was involved with the project when it was still a fourth part in Sam Raimi's cinematic series).

Though The Amazing Spider-Man was subsequently updated by Alvin Sargent and Steve Kloves, Sony clearly has a great deal of faith in Vanderbilt's abilities and looks prepped to get a sequel to Webb's film going as quickly as possible, following its July 3, 2012 release.

Who cares if it looks lame as long as it fulfills Sony's contractual obligation to make a "Spider-Man" movie every few years in order to keep the rights?

I don't think it looks bad. It looks better than Tobey's.

Suit looks fine to me. It looks like Spider-Man

I don't see what the issue people have with Tobey's costume, that was one of the best comic book to movie costume translations i've seen.

People didn't like the look of the Thor costume out of context and look how that turned out. I don't have a problem with the suit.

THAT IS THE WORST COSTUME EVER!

I think the suit is fine. Little detail that I like is that well...Garfield is skinnny...really fits better bodywise for the character. I'm sure he'll do fine...just wonder how the script is.

Besides the eyes being a bit small, it looks fine to me. And I'm someone who thinks this is all gonna suck...

I wonder how bad this movie would have to bomb to get Sony to pull a "Diamonds Are Forever"/"Return of the Pink Panther" scenario by crawling back to Raimi and Maguire for a real "Spider-Man 4".

I'm not anticipating it performing that poorly or being that awful but I'm just wondering.

Re: Spider-Man (2012, Marc Webb)

If it bombs, Sony might not have that opportunity as there are rumors the true "Sony" would spin off or declare the picture division bankrupt and they'd lose the rights.

Except for the pattern, I don't mind the costume one bit.

Everything about this looks better than Raimi's turds

We might even get a couple with actual chemistry this time
