Re: Repo Men- J. Law and F. Whitaker as Organ Repo Men

I was asked to go see this with a friend. I had no plans on ever watching it even though the previews were ok. So I went in just to be going to the movies on a Saturday afternoon. Overall I enjoyed it for what it was. I did waste atleast 15 minutes trying to figure out where Beth came from, and why did they seem to have an connection. I asked my friend after it was over and they said "she was singing in the bar" I was like, well ok. I thought i had fell asleep and missed a flashback or something. Also I'm with Seantn, the company should've paid for his new heart for many of reasons. I'm 99% sure a company that big, dealing with health would have an amazing coverage on their workers lol. So yeah that was weird. Anyways it was fun and better than I had expected.

Movie was alright, just entirely too long. Enjoyed the gore factor and it had some fun moments, nicely shot, decently acted.

Script needed a rewrite.

felt the same way. This was too long, but I enjoyed it enough. Jude Law can always hold my interest.

Even though I agree with and understand the majority of critics ripping this apart. It's not a well made film... contrived, trite, all that stuff.

I enjoyed this. Law and Whittaker really clicked. Schreiber was good as usual. I loved the gore and the matter of fact approach to it. I enjoyed it in spite of the flaws.

Definitely could have been better, but I think the critical reception was a tad harsh this time around... movie should do pretty well via DVD.

I actually thought it was reasonably well made, but I wish they stuck with the goofy tone it had at the beginning of the movie. Once it got serious it all got a bit sluggish.

Same here, Forrest and Jude had great chemistry. But after the "accident" it turned into the Minority Report. Only not as good. Still had its moments, and I liked the twist of the typical cliche' ending though.

Only thing I didn't understand though was.

Spoiler:
Wasn't the whole point of them hunting him down to repo his heart? Yet they made it sound like hes going to be on the machine for the rest of his life. With no heart? And if his best friend could afford to keep him on that machine for the rest of his life ,he couldnt have helped him out with the heart payments until he got back on his feet?

Better than I thought it would be. Nowhere near as violent as I had expected though. I actually enjoyed the twist ending.

I agree that it was better when it was a morbid comedy. It was still interesing when it got serious but nowhere near as good. Still, it was rock solid overall.

As for the ending,
Spoiler:
I took it that Forest Whitaker couldn't afford the brain machine but got in debt to keep his friend with the heart and the brain machine. Basically, the cycle repeats itself only they'd be hunting Whitaker who's trying to protect a vegetable.

I liked the ending as it had a creative way to toy with how many times action movies tend to devolve into wish fulfilment for the protagonists. Like the scene in
Spoiler:
the train
for instance.

Just watched Repo Men and thought it was fantastic. Much better than I expected.

Spoiler:
I absolutely HATED Remy's wife. Total total bitch! Wished there was a bounty on her heart instead!.

Also, question... going by what the ending shows, am I correct in assuming everything after the Jude Law/Whitiker fight was a dream? Including the entire hallway scene and the white room?

Re: Repo Men- J. Law and F. Whitaker as Organ Repo Men

Just saw rented this on DVD. Overall I liked it but had alot of problems with the story:

Spoiler:

I found it hard to believe that in this society, there would be no problem with a corporation taking out peoples organs and leaving them there to die. I mean, if the setting had been a dystopia, then this would have worked, especially as a dark comedy like someone previously mentioned. Remy even murders his co-worker and the possibility of him coming back to work is still on the table. Where are the police when all this is happening?

It was hard to share Remy's wife disgust and shock at the scene at the barbeque when it's previously shown to happen in public all the time.

I'm glad it wasn't a happy ending but it just felt tacked on. It was like they just combined the ending of Total Recall and Minority Report. I think it would have been much better had they ended it when the machete guy came.

Still, the future world they created was great! And Jude Law and the actress who plays Beth were excellent in the movie.

Spoiler:
I liked it up until the first Whitaker/Law fight. After that, ending included just dragged on and on

I will probably end up buying this movie.

How about you make that into a proper paragraph? With some sensible English as well?
