How very odd. Not so much the blowup, but it sounded like he was going to start crying? And calling everyone amateurs? Tsk.

I guess I can see him as Nick Twisp, I'm just very wary of how this book--one of the few books I've read multiple times--will translate to the big screen. Reading something in first person is a very different perspective from either seeing it portrayed on a screen or even with voiceover.

This came out a while ago. He is funny, but I haven't really liked him ever since he made a fuss about the Arrested Development movie. I did hear however, that he finally got his act together and has decided to do the movie. Year One looks pretty good also.

He did one of these before. I forget which movie it was from. But there's definately another out there. He's in the middle of a dinner-table scene with some girl and he starts freaking out. I think it was with Apatow? Or Adam Makay? Google it and you'll find it.
I looked up "Youth in Revolt". The synopsis mentions a 14-year old boy. Is Cera playing that role?

It was for Knocked Up. Oh and theres an "everybody hates Michael Cera" bit/featurette on the 2 disc Superbad dvd

It's from Knocked Up. A longer portion of it is on the half-hour mockumentary on the two-disc DVD in which Judd Apatow goes through a slew of actors of the role Seth Rogen ultimately plays in the movie (including James Franco, Orlando Bloom, Danny McBride, and others).
I am of fan of Cera's, so I'll be there; despite the reviews from test screenings being very lukewarm (Cera's performance is getting raves, but the rest of the film is said to be pretty mediocre).

I hate to be the early naysayer, but the film just didn't work for me. A lot comes from me not being able to accept their relationship. I get why he digs the girl (aka she's hot) but the film didn't convince me at all why she would immediately submit to him and turn hot and heavy, head over heels in love.
There are definitely funny parts (and one particular moment of hilarity involving a car), but so much of the story is predicated on his keep-the-girl-at-all-costs drive that not having that bond be believable went a long way to killing the story for me.

There is no one working in film today who will cause me to miss a film more than Cera. I was never an Arrested Dev. fan, so my first real dose of him was Superbad. I was ok with that, but everything he does is the same character and it drives me nuts. This trailer makes me skin crawl anytime I see it in theaters.

I understand he plays a shy teen who stammers a lot. I've neither seen the trailer nor read anything about this film, but I bet I'm right.

Youth in revolt was mediocre at best. It starts off slow and the evil twin part of the film is very little. The best parts were in the trailer. it's only 90 minutes long. I laughed maybe 5 times. If I were to give it a grade I would give it a C-

It wasn't great, but I enjoyed it quite a bit for some reason. Yes, it was a lot of Cera playing his usual character, but there was enough of a twist and quirkiness to keep me engaged.

Caught this yesterday, it was unfortunately disappointing. I agree with Brian's DVDTalk review, it really does start out promising and quite funny, but loses so much steam in the 2nd half that it felt like a different movie.
I have no idea how this was portrayed in the book, but I wanted a lot more Francois and a lot less pining. There were a couple of huge laughs though.

I don't think it was "bad", just really mediocre. And if you don't like Michael Cera you're going to hate this movie.
