the Twilight Saga: New Moon. Do you care?
similar to the Michael Jackson thread
I don't think it will be as big as some people are making it out to be. I don't think it will do 100 million opening weekend. The question is, will the detractors (and there are many) stay home that weekend, or go for the hell of it, only to bash it on forums like this or on imdb/aicn.

I'll probably go see it during a matinee. I've never been shy to say the first one was far from horrible. The second trailer definitely shows like they have a polished movie. My one hope is the Nicholas Hammond Spider-Man quality SFX don't return.

The wife really wants to see this so we'll be there opening week at some point. I enjoyed the first one somewhat so I'm kind of looking forward to this one.

Yes. Excited about seeing the Volturi on screen.
You underestimate how much the Twi-Fans love their Edward. Even though he isn't in the book that much, I read the filmmakers will have him around a little more in the film adaptation.

i wonder what the tween girls would think of Pattison once they find out that he plays a gay in some indie movie.

Haven't see Twilight yet, but it's in my Blockbuster queue. That's probably where New Moon will end up as well. Unless I'm tired of sissyboy vampires.

I do.
I'm a HUGE Werewolf fan so this movie actually has my interest. But I've yet to see the 1st flick so I'll have to see it soon.

Taking the girlfriend to see it, and I have no direct interest in this movie I'd like to see what happens next.

Went into the first one totally blind, open minded, and expecting to like it.
Worse film of the year for me. No desire to see the sequels.

First one looked very gay. I'll admit the second appears to have some polish to it; there were some kinda cool shots in the trailer, but I know I couldn't stomach actually watching the damn thing.
Victor Salva will be all over this opening weekend!

Is "do you care" this year's version of "Anybody else think (insert expected blockbuster movie name here) is doomed?" from a couple of years ago?
To answer the OP, yes I do care, but it's not my most anticipated film of the year.

I liked the first one but I felt they left out some of the good parts of the book. I'm looking forward to this one though and will definitely see it in the theater

Very much looking forward to the movie. The film's "detractors" will not have any effect on whether this movie is successful. This is not a health care bill where "detractors" have any ability to make a difference on the popularity of the franchise. It's not a debate going on here.
The books were popular before the movies, and before any "detractors." The first movie only caused the franchise to grow in popularity.
Regardless of people calling the franchise gay, or sparkly, or whatever, New Moon will do very well. I don't know about $100 million the first weekend, but I don't see how failing to make $100 million in three days is failure. I think it will easily clear $100 million by the end of the Thanksgiving weekend.

If this one looks like it's MORE polished than the last flick, I've got to check out Twilight out of morbid curiousity to see how truly bad the SFX actually are.
To answer the OP, I have no interest whatsoever.

Re: the Twilight Saga: New Moon. Do you care?
I was never interested in Twilight, but happened to catch the first film a couple weeks back. I found it surprisingly watchable. But I still wouldn't seek out the second film to watch. Will probably catch it on TV whenever it airs.
But my first thought upon realizing New Moon adds werewolves was "Underworld" ...

I'll probably watch it sometime, maybe even when it comes out if there's nothing better to see.
I'm sure it'll do quite well, I know plenty of people (all female of course, but none teenage girls) who virtually never go to movies who already have tickets for this.
