Wrong. He's not funny at all. He makes Mickey Rooney's work in BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S look downright nuanced and sensitive.

When he came onscreen it felt like the producers said "look we put the asian guy from HANGOVER for you!" This movie sucked and should be shown in film school to show what poor editing & dialog looks like.

This reminds me, I just created The Official Transformers Comic Book Discussion Thread in the Comic Books sub-forum. I checked and there were only 65 search results for "Transformers" there, and none of them were threads dedicated to TF comics so I figured now was as good a time as any to create one.

^ Already discussed, brizz.

The music sample is just a result of the mentoring program that Hans Zimmer's composers go through. They tend to play with certain themes and use them in other works until they eventually create themes that are wholly their own.

As for the recycled shots from The Island, that's what they had to do to complete the freeway sequence since the filming of the movie was temporarily halted due to that extra being injured whilst they were filming that sequence.

This is a great Transformers movie. Much better than 2, and even 1.

I really enjoyed the action.

We saw it in the theater and liked it more than the first two. Picked it up yesterday on Bluray.

Re: Transformers 3 Announced

I have to say, this one sucked as bad as number 2. I enjoyed the campiness of the first one, but this one just got silly and stupid. I'd give this one a 1 star out of five. Yeesh. I just bailed on friends who wanted to have dinner and watch this tonight. No way am I sitting through this rubbish again.

I miss old Michael Bay. The Rock, Armageddon, and Bad Boys...those were fun.

Yeah Transformers 3 is indeed a shit sandwich. Pure crap. Almost as bad as the 2nd one. I don't get the love for the first movie either, sure it was the best of the series, but still a bloated pile of shit.

I disagree. The first is still the best of the series, although it does sag in the middle. The third had way too much bloat. Even the second, of all it's faults, wasn't nearly as bloated as the third.

Sorry you do not get the love for the movie, but I am glad you can have your own opinion.

People love it because it has lots of action, things blow up, some humor thrown in and it has GIANT robots. I personally love the style of Micheal Bay.

My entire family HATED the girl lead in the show, we all would rather have Megan Fox back. Megan is 10x the actress than the new girlfriend. If Megan was in the movie, then the two of them could have gotten engaged at the end of the movie.

...I'm not sure how that would make a better film. Seems it would make it worse cuz of all the cheese that Bay would gush out of it.

I would have rather had the movie without either of the girlfriends.

Re: Transformers 3 Announced

I agree with many of the criticisms, including the new model "actress" who couldn't act her way out of a paper bag.

I still liked the movie a lot. I think the first one is the best overall, it's a more solid film from start to finish. 2 is horrid. of course. 3 is uneven, many of the comedy bits are too silly or just not funny, but I bet kids think it's funny. The story is o.k., much better than 2. The action scenes are some of the most amazing action ever put on a screen.

People that like to trash this film are just spoiled haters. The amount of genius on display in the Transformers movies dwarfs the critics and makes them look like tiny pathetic insects if you ask me.

I was with you until this. I do think a lot of the haters were prejudiced against the very existence of this movie and weren't interested in finding a reason to accept, much less like, it. It's simply become fashionable to denounce these movies. They're the new Prequel Trilogy, I suppose, in that regard.

Re: Transformers 3 Announced

I thought it was the best of the three... there was a nonstop action sequence in the middle (where they were in the collapsing building) that took my breath away... I thought the movie was flawed and bloated, but entertaining nonetheless. The first wasn't very good, and mostly had the nostalgia factor going for it, the second was way too long but was primarily more of the same. I missed Megan Fox, not because she was great, and not because the new girl was awful, I'm just a fan of continuity in movies. WTF did people expect from a movie about fucking robots that turn into cars and planes with inherited dialogue about "sparks of life" and "energon cubes"? Citizen Kane? It was a big, loud, stupid, summer action movie that delivered. Watch it, forget it, and move on.

You must not see a lot of action films in that case. While very entertaining...it's not really amazing. Amazing is Hard Boiled or maybe a T2.

Re: Transformers 3 Announced

Actually, I hated the collapsing building sequence. It was awesome at first but I grew tired of it. The sequence needed a major trim to tighten the pace. And that's the major issue with the third. The pacing is all off. The first had pacing issues as well (right after we first meet the Autobots, no less) but the third was constantly starting and stopping. It grew tiring. Especially since the speedbumps were all horrible jabs at what looked to be the worst improv comedy I've ever seen.

T2 was nearly 20 years ago and wasn't hard boiled about 15 years ago.

So, what you are saying is that no recent movie in your memory is nearly as amazing as the action in Transformers 3?

No. He's saying TF: DOTM pales in comparison to movies released 15 to 20 years prior.

I watched a whole bunch of Transformers cartoons the last few months and yeah, these movies evoke those cartoons exactly.

pretty much...I guess.

Bay's action is visual spectacular...sure. But it lacks power of the blow. It lacks an oomph factor. True Lies for example had action that made you feel the hit (if you get my meaning). Bay can't sell the impact. He can sell the shit out of the ramp up and the hit itself. But not the impact from the hit.

@Rocshemp...funny how when you put up the TF3 title it gave a right in the middle. Accidental I'm sure...or sly..somehow.
