I hear Sam's dad gets ripped in half by Ravage and another Decepticon in this one.

In comics, sure. That's fine. On film? No thanks.

Re: Transformers 3{2011}
I don't get the problem. G.I. Joe wasn't exactly 100% realistic in the comics or cartoons. The movie looks to be over the top action. The Transformers live action movie had over the top action. It's not too outlandish to mix the two.
This isn't like trying to do a Superman/Batman film with the Nolanverse version of Batman. Given how much the Nolanverse strives for believabilty and realism (well, to a point), having Batman meet an alien that is nigh invincible unless attacked by magic or glowing green rocks wouldn't make much sense.
A G.I. Joe/Transformers crossover would make sense.

Re: Transformers 3{2011}
Another typical action movie??? And were you expecting some David Mamet dialogue or something? It's Michael Bay + CG Robots....what do you think? Part 2 is gonna make a shit load of money, the DVD's and Blu Rays will make a shit load of money and the toys and Part 3 will probably do the same.
I'm in for Part 2, 3, 4 or however many movies they make.

I'm surprised that many of you thought GI Joe looked silly from the trailer and somehow thought that the first Transformers movie was better in tone. I'm with RocShemp on this, the two seemed pretty similar to me and a crossover would be easy.

Oh nononono. Regardless of how silly TF1 was there is no comparing anything Michael Bay has done to anything Stephen Sommers has done. I'm not a Bay fan or apologist by any means, but Sommers is a total hack with a bad-CGI fetish. G.I. Joe will suck ultimate ass purely because it's his film.

Re: Transformers 3{2011}
Bay has already stated that if DreamWorks is gunning for a 2011 release, then they have to count him out. [He'll be down for 2012 as he needs a "year off."]
To be honest, if the sequel is as over bloated as the first one (odds are yes with Ehren Kruger writing), just reboot the entire franchise for round three.
Don't get me wrong, I love me some Bay; but Transformers was too bloated and an hour too long.

Transformers 3 Announced
who didn't see this coming, i mean the series has only made 1.5 billion worldwide
Director says next 'bot sequel due out in 2011.
by Jim Vejvoda
October 1, 2009 - Giant f*****g robots will storm back into theaters come summer 2011, so sayeth director Michael Bay.
The Transformers series director made the following announcement today at his official site: "Well its official: We have a great Transformers 3 story. The release date is now July 1st 2011. Not 2012. Today is Day One. This morning started with an ILM meeting for five hours in San Francisco. Currently I'm flying with writer Ehren Kruger to Rhode Island to talk to Hasbro about new characters."
Bay also jokingly addressed the public rift between himself and his leading lady. "P.S. Megan Fox, welcome back. I promise no alien robots will harm you in any way during the production of this motion picture," the director blogged, adding a litany of physical side effects that can result from collaborating with him and urging her to contact her physician. He added that "Pain and Gain is right after shooting of Trans 3."
That would mean Bad Boys III is at least five years away, if it's still even in the works (at least with Bay involved). Ditto I Am Number Four.
Bay had been on the fence about returning for Transformers 3 in recent months (especially after Paramount announced the July 1, 2011 release date without checking his availability first), emphasizing his need for a break from the franchise after shooting two giant movies back-to-back. No rest for the weary, Mr. Bay.

Paramount studio rep: Michael, we want TF3 in 2011.
Bay: No way, I need time off.
(large sack of money is plopped on table)
Bay smiles and signs on dotted line.

So you want it to be another steaming pile of shit rather than a flawed yet enjoyable movie?
And don't give me your runtime BS because both movies are beyond two hours long with only 7 minutes difference between them. Also, neither is rated R.

The second movie is a pile of shit. The third movie is being rushed, so it will probably be a pile of shit as well. The first one is a fucking masterpiece when compared to the second.

Re: Transformers 3 Announced
Pre-production on the second one started around the same time in 2007 (late September / early October) with filming starting in May 2008 for a release date more than barely a year later. I'd say the second film was more rushed due to the Writer's Strike that happened during most of the film's pre-production schedule.
P.S. Both films suck.
P.P.S. I hope I'm not tricked into seeing this one. I saw both theatrically as I'm a Bay apologist and the only reason I was at the sequel was due to seeing the scenes shot specifically for IMAX.
