I had a hard time choosing between Goodfellas and Se7en. My choices:

Goodfellas
Matrix
Pulp Fiction
Terminator 2

The Matrix really resonated with a lot of people when it first came out. Bullet time was mind-blowing when it came out too.

When you separate The Matrix from its sequels its one of the greatest movies ever made.

Oddly, I feel that way about T2. Some solid action sequences don't make up for the inanity (and Furlong's acting). Shawshank was fluff but it was really well-done fluff.

Oddly enough, I agree with you too re: T2. It's an exemplary action film, but I wouldn't put it in my Top 10 (or 25) of the 90s. Still, I like it a lot more than Shawshank.
