Crap, Crap, Crap!
First review I've read by Bloody-disgusting.com (I usually agree with their reviews) gave it 1 out of 10 stars . Here is a quote from their spoiler filled review:
"How can you lose with Demons, swordfights, witches, knights and a whopping $60m budget? Ask Uwe Boll as this horror fantasy is one of the dullest, poorly acted and heartless films I’ve seen all year. "
The review spoils the ending but you can find it here:

^ I will say that this kind of confirms the gut feeling I had with the trailer; that it's something that should have gone straight to DVD. While some of it looks bad a$$, they would obviously put the best stuff in the preview. Of course it still has a while before general release, so they could do some fine tuning. Also, Uwe Boll did not direct this one last I checked.

If nothing else, this might be a fun "six-pack" kind of movie, kind of like I would classify the movie "Doomsday" or "Underworld:Rise of the Lycans." Highly entertaining, but watch only with a good alcohol buzz!

I don't get all the hate in the review. As for the ending, I kind of expected that. Heck, even Conan The Barbarian ends on an anti-climax (how easy was it to confront Thulsa Doom after the battle on the mounds?) and no one seems to mind. And there's plenty in that movie that also comes out of nowhere (the horny witch, Thulsa Doom transforming into a snake, the snake cults, etc.). This just seems in line with Robert E. Howard inspired movies.

"Purefoy is the reigning king of Puritan Chic."
I so want to see that on one of the posters.

This is PG-13 right? If so that's disappointing, but I'm still interested in giving it a chance. Reviews from critics I trust have given me hope.

Nope. But here's another poster:

EDIT:
I found the following on Wikipedia.
It seems its either out or soon to be released in France, the Czech Republic, and the UK. No word on a US release date.

EDIT:
I found the following on Wikipedia.
On October 23rd, 2009, Bassett announced on his blog that "Kane is slowly gearing up for its first set of release dates at the end of this year and early 2010".

Re: Solomon Kane
Wasn't REH's Solomon Kane supposed to be more like Conan and Bran Mak Morn and set in an ancient period?
I ask this because Alan Moore created a character named Deliverance Drue whos visual style looks like it was borrowed by the producers of "Solomon Kane."

Hope this isn't another example of Hollywood screwing Moore.
That said, the trailer looks good.

Deliverance Drue is a grey hat, a puritan warrior. He has a forceful personality fueled by the fire of a fanatic. Given an unusual background, it seems that he sought refuge in the work of the Lord, and although his intentions might have been good from the start, he has gone too far in his struggle. He is, frankly put, a religious lunatic. Seeing himself as a vehicle of the Lord's vengeance on Earth, he spends nearly all his waking hours hunting down those he perceives as sinners and criminals. His standards are exceptionally high, and although he occasionally appears to break these standards himself (such as when he impregnated his own servant, or when he rewrote the story of his life using magic), he accepts no shortcomings in others. Bringing vengeance in the name of the Lord, he can't be stopped or be allowed to fail at any cost. In other words, he has an unquenchable wrath against those that he thinks foes of his God.

Hope this isn't another example of Hollywood screwing Moore.

There are 2 screenings in So Cal this weekend. I tried getting into tonight's, but no luck. Hopefully they go over well enough that it spurns someone to get on putting these in theaters.

Re: Solomon Kane
Just finished this.
I liked this quite a bit, and I'm not really big on this type of movie in a general sense.
All star cast, and just a hell of a fun movie. It's gets 'evil' right, the tone right, the violence is serious and satisfying.
Purefoy delivers, he really pulled this off.
