I love Kill Bill but I watched The Bride Wore Black and it was ridiculously similiar. Tarantino never fessed up either, claiming he's a Godard fan and not Truffaut... I say bollocks!

I've watched movies that were an influence on, and were influenced by, other movies I've seen.

But he now perfers Melville over both of them.

Speaking of Tarantino, because of his nods/homages/and music samples, I've seeked out:

The Streetfighter (True Romance)
Vampyres Lesbos (Jackie Brown sndtrk)
Vanishing Point (Death Proof)
White Lightning (Kill Bill)
Master of the Flying Guillotine (True Romance---This was supposed to play on Clarence's TV instead of Better Tomorrow 2)
The Grand Duel (Kill Bill)
Female Prisoner series (Kill Bill)
La Route de Salina (Kill Bill---I'm still trying to find this)

And Dark of the Sun (Included on the Inglorious Basterds sndtrk) is already on my wish list.

I've yet to see The Streetfighter. I know I'd love it. I just can't find a reasonably priced DVD of it.

I was shocked that the theme to True Romance is the identical or nearly identical to the music in Badlands. It also has the same kind of female narration.

Those two make a great double feature.

I noticed the parallels right away the first time I watched Badlands. The music caught me first. After getting into it I noticed that some basic plot elements are very similar. Kit takes Holly away from her father and the two go on the run. Clarence takes Alabama away from her father figure and the two go on the run.

Speaking of, when do we get a Badlands upgrade?

That's just mean.

Anyway I'm talking about people actually seeking out the films thats were homaged or directly influenced upon a future film. I mean, the Matrix got me to watch Hard Boiled, an amazingly shot action film. Pulp Fiction got Band of Outsiders to get my attention. Etc etc. Kill Bill> Lady Snowblood, Thriller aka They Call Her One Eye, The Lone Wolf and Cub films....which also got me to see the awesome Shogun Assassin. I think it's a special thing to seek out the references in a film. Maybe you don't do that, I do.
