I saw HP6 last night at a 9pm showing and it wasn't even close to being full. Probably more like 40% capacity. I know it's a Thursday but kids are out of school right now.
I also think there is going to be a fair amount of bad word of mouth which will hold it back. We'll see.

Huh!? Why do you say that? Critic and fan ratings have been extremely high.

Per Deadline Hollywood, Harry Potter earned about $26 mil on Friday for a likely $80 mil weekend and a 5-day of $160 mil. HP5 had a 5-day of $140 mil.
Ice Age 2 made $5.9m ($20 m for weekend possibly). TF2 $4.5m ($14m weekend). The Proposal $2.8m ($8.5m weekend). Bruno dropped 81% on Friday for $2.7m and maybe around $8.5m for the weekend.

I know I heard that subtitle being mentioned before release, but I wonder why that website is using it, when in fact the movie ended up being called just BRUNO. (never does that subtitle appear onscreen)

Because it's Showbizdata, they're "special" (and can't seem to keep their site up on a constant basis.)

Early numbers for yesterday from The Numbers:
1) Harry Potter: $26.8 million
2) Ice Age: $5.6 million
3) Transformers: $4.2 million
4) Bruno: $2.8 million
5) The Proposal: $2.7 million
Harry Potter doesn't have a chance of making $200 million in five days like The Dark Knight or Transformers before it and Bruno dropped 81% from last Friday. Yikes.

Sooo, the new Gerard Butler/Kathy Higel(sp?) flick....I saw 1 scheduled showing at one of the AMC's near me for Friday. Today, Saturday, there are -NONE- scheduled at the 3 AMC's near me.
EDIT:
Nevermind...it doesn't open until July 24th. Whew! I thought it bombed big time.

Sounds like it was just a preview, the release date isn't until next week.

Looks like Hangover will come out ahead of Star Trek... and no tears for Bruno's implosion.

Considering Bruno dropped 40% between Friday and Saturday of last week, I don't think anyone is surprised by the massive drop off this week.

I've got to say that I really like The Hangover and saw it twice but would have to say that I think that Bruno is just as funny and saw it three times. It is my opinion that ultimately the movie hasn't done as well because of the homophobic feeling of a lot of people in the United States.

While the film got a lot of positive reviews from critics, the overall grade from Cinemascore was a C.
For those of you unaware of Cinemascore, they'll pop up at theaters across the country on a film's opening weekend to hand out cards of what you thought of the film. You give the film a grade and rate if you would see it again, purchase the DVD, recommend it to a friend, etc.
The reason for the mediocre score based off Hollywood rumblings is the mainstream wasn't comfortable with the film's rampant male nudity. While Borat only had the one (infamous) scene, this happens to be a frequent occurrence during Bruno. Based off audience reactions during Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Watchmen, I'm sure this one just had people cringing and wanting to leave just due to the amount of penis.

Never seen Bruno, don't want to either.
But...America has to got to let go of freaking out at the sight of the penis.

no. hangover was better which is why the word of mouth alone is the reason it's passing star trek. when a comedy passes a good summer blockbuster, there's a good reason why. the hangover will be a classic in 20 years.
