Re: DVD Talk Ratings Thread

Thanks all for your help. First post now updated and includes Bruno. Please note that the IMDb rating only has 5 votes, lol.

For RT, I'm going to use the critic ratings (out of 10) rather than the percentage since then it will be a direct comparison...

Good idea Movieman. I don't know how much work is involved, but you might want to add Metacritic ratings as well as Rotten Tomatoes.

Yeah, I'll probably add Metacritic then.

Seconded... i find metacritic a much more accurate barometer for critical concensus, plus it has a more exclusive opinion about which are the most 'valid' critics to include.

And the scores are one decimal place away from being given on a scale of 10, anyway ... so not much more work involved.

Thanks for the effort Movieman.

Re: DVD Talk Ratings Thread

This is an amazing idea. My only suggestion would be to add highlights to it. It could be every third line, to make it easier to read. Or it could be to recent movies, etc.

This is what I mean by highlighting.

Quote my message to see the code. The color can be changed by replacing the #99FFCC with whatever color you'd like. Here is a helpful chart:

Thanks so much for doing this!

That would work, only problem is I would have to do a bunch of copy/paste though for 5 different columns. I'll look into it, though.

If you're familiar with Excel, this becomes much easier.

I'm not, lol. What I'm doing is just putting in the numbers in Excel and then typing it in into a Word file, then I just remove the carriage returns and copy/paste. I tried looking for the HTML code with Excel but couldn't (I'm using Excel 2007).

if this was blu-ray.com Transformers 2 would be higher, they gush over the dumbest of movies over there.

Re: DVD Talk Ratings Thread

At some point I will update the grid on the first page, but here's a quick update on movies not on there...

Kick-Ass - 4.0/5 (8.1/10)
Avatar - 4.0/5 (8.0/10)
Iron Man 2 - 3.8/5
Nightmare on Elm Street - 2.3/5

I know I've missed plenty others so if people can provide links to those, I'll add those to the grid.

perhaps you should keep previous years separate?

Yeah, I can do that, but I still need to get caught up. Other than those I have listed in my prior post, what else have I missed (if any)?

i will have MacGruber for 5/21. i usually only create a Review Thread for movies I intend to see personally, but if there is one you want me to set up in the similar vein as the others and no one else objects, just let me know. i don't intend to see Robin Hood, but can do one if so prompted.

also, if you want to include Zombieland from last year, it's up to you.

2012 didn't get too many votes.
