I had zero interest in seeing this just because I don't like Clooney in this type of role & the trailer looked so generic. But now that article has me interested.

the only bad thing I see in the trailer is the priest and his interaction w/ Clooney. All that man without God and etc...I've seen it too much. Hopefully it plays better in the film.

Looks classy yet terribly boring. Hopeful for the best, though.

Yeah something is up. There was a post in Otter a few minutes ago that had the same problem. Weird.

The latest TV spots look terrible. This has to have great reviews for me to see it.

Slow-paced?

Sounds refreshing. Bring it on.

For the most part I detest modern american action/suspense films with the over the top high octane action sequences, hand held immediacy, hyper speed transition edits and bad writing...bores the fuck out of me.

This sounds very intriguing indeed.

I'll be seeing this Wednesday. I'm not sure what to expect, but a slow pace does sound nice. Add that to the great cinematography (based on the trailer) and a good performance from George Clooney and this could be more than worth my time.

It is sitting at 54% on RT right now with 13 reviews, 7 fresh and 6 rotten.. I am pretty shocked that it is getting so many bad reviews already. Hopefully that turns around over the next 24 hours or so. I thought for sure this one was going to be one of the best of the year.

I would have thought so on paper, before seeing the trailer. To its credit, most of the scored negative reviews are barely negative -- 2.5 out of 4, and most people seem to at least admire what the movie tried to do -- it just also appears to be incredibly boring and cliche.

FWIW - Ebert's 4 Star Review: http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/...IEWS/100839999

If you haven't already seen it (I know it just opened today!) I would strongly encourage you to. I absolutely loved The American. It far surpassed my expectations, and after it was over I actually thought "Hey, this should be right up Sessa's alley!" so I thought I would make sure to encourage you to go see it too.

I really liked it as well. If you enjoyed The Limits of Control, I recommend seeing The American. Similar in tone and style, but a much better film. 4/5

I'm really looking forward to this.

Ebert gave it a great 4 star review.

Good movie. And a massive amount of very attractive female eye candy to boot, which is a nice bonus.

Thanks man. This went from not on my radar at all to now having to figure out a way to free up some time & get someone to go see this with me over the weekend.
