is it too soon for another KING KONG remake?

Look, these are savage monsters we're talking about - Kong included. If people go to Skull Island, they can expect to get bloody - or worse.

There was no blood spilled on Skull Island in any of the films, including the original. Okay, for 1933, I can understand the restraints (they even took out an apparently gory sequence involving spiders in a valley eating damaged sailors)........but what about the rest? 1976? 2005? No blood!

Forget 2005 - it lacked realism, and that was a complete turn-off for me. I want Ann Darrow torn up (despite Kong's "protection," she still would have dislocated joints and scrapes); I want Kong to bleed when other monsters bite him (he didn't get all those scars for nuthin'); I want realistic dialog (a good script?) to come out of the actor's mouths - and most of all, I want people to be SCARED!!!

Frankly, I think a better film can be made of the King Kong story.......

Re: is it too soon for another KING KONG remake?

You know what I'd like to see?

I wish someone would make a new King Kong film using the discarded title from the 70's when Universal was developing their own remake: The Legend of King Kong.

It could feature a crew finding the island, dealing with the natives, fighting Kong, etc. and it would end with one lone survivor on a boat drifting out to sea where he would be rescued and recount his story to the crew of the ship that saved him: the Venture.

I always wanted a Kong film that didn't have him dying at the end. Maybe this version could features multiple Kongs, with the climactic battle between King Kong and a rival. Something along those lines. I haven't fully fleshed out my idea, but I'd love to see it happen one day.

Yes, because realism is what you want in a movie about a giant money who lives on an island that no one has managed to discover that is populated by dinosaurs.

You're weird.

Re: is it too soon for another KING KONG remake?

thank you, KillerCannibal, for not posting another 'Yes.'

Your idea would work along the lines of a 'prequel,' and that ain't a bad idea at all.

This could start a new franchise trilogy (ala Batman Begins) - your Prequel idea, then 'King Kong,' fleshed out into two parts: The Island (Part I); The Capture (Part II).

Nothing screams realism like a 100 foot ape running through New York City destroying everything in its path until taken down by the military.

I kind of like the idea of the prequel on the island.

As for realism in Jackson's version, I thought the filmmakers gave it realism with Kong's wang (or lack thereof) since they said in reality an ape as large as Kong would have a relatively tiny wang ... wait, what kind of realism were we talking about again?

I wouldn't be interested in any more versions of King Kong.

I'd rather see a remake of The Land That Time Forgot.

And how about a realistic Godzilla film where he whacks his tail against a massive skyscraper and--OUCH!--there's a huge bump on his tail and the building is still standing. He knocks at it with his hands and what happens? Welts on his palms. OUCH again! And then he trips over the power lines, which are below his field of vision, and falls over and can't get up. His face is in the ground and he can't use his flame breath for crap. The planes come in, drop a bomb, and "poof"--no more Godzilla. Yeah, that sounds exciting.

Can't say I disagree with you there. I've been a fan of that film since I was still rockin' training wheels on my bike. I wonder how a new version would have turned out if Universal had gotten their proposed remake off the ground in the late 80's/early 90's. I doubt we'll see it at this point, but with technology doing what it can today I think the results could be epic if they got the right script and director.
