I'd like to see a King Kong remake, but only if Kong wears a great big General Ursus helmet.

Re: is it too soon for another KING KONG remake?

I would say that, at the moment, I don't really want another King Kong movie. I don't even know if it'd be fiscally responsible to make another one. Unless they come up with something radical, it just doesn't seem like there's any material there. Even if it were just a Skull Island action flick, I don't see people going nuts over it.

Peter Jackson's Kong was good. It's obviously something that he really wanted to do. It captured the scope of what a King Kong remake should be. WETA did a great job on the effects. But it still didn't punch me as a movie that I will watch and rewatch again.

Maybe I was Peter-Jackson'ed out after the Lord of the Rings movies. As a guy who loved Bad Taste and The Frighteners when I was a little kid, I think it's still a real trip that he's become such a Hollywood powerhouse ... being involved with Speilberg, James Cameron, producing side-projects, etc.

From Deadline:

Fox Animation have hired Christian Magalhaes & Bob Snow ("Murder of a Cat") to write an animated modern day twist on "King Kong" and will tell the story from the vantage point of the ape.

I'm in for almost anything Kong related, but I have a bad feeling about this one.

Peter Jackson's film was fucking terrible.

But I don't want to see a remake. Enough already.
