re: Rambo: Last Blood (2019, D: Adrian Grunberg) S: Stallone
Sylvester Stallone made a surprise appearance at Comic-Con on Friday, to promote his return as Rocky Balboa in the upcoming MGM spinoff Creed, arriving in theaters November 25. It was his comments about the latest installment of his other beloved franchise, Rambo: Last Blood, that got people's attention, though. The actor/filmmaker revealed that he has teams in Iraq and Syria scouting in ISIS strongholds for the action sequel. Here's what the actor had to say below.
"We have teams scouting Iraq and parts of Syria where ISIS have their greatest strongholds. We're working with the locals there to help deliver the most intense and realistic Rambo movie experience ever."
When asked to clarify if he plans on hiring actual ISIS militants for the sequel, the actor only said that he's "really excited to talk about Creed today," and, according to The Washington Post, the subject was not brought up again. We haven't heard about Rambo: Last Blood since December 2014, when Sylvester Stallone confirmed the long-rumored title on his Twitter page. In June 2014, Splendid Media acquire the rights to the franchise, with Sylvester Stallone writing the screenplay for this follow-up, but it isn't known if he plans to direct as well.
In Sylvester Stallone's last outing as John Rambo, 2008's Rambo, the actor/filmmaker hired an ex-guerrilla Burmese soldier from the Shan State Army named Maung Maung Khin to play the villainous Tint in his feature film debut, and other Shan refugees and migrants from northern Thailand were hired as extras to play Burmese soldiers. It isn't known exactly what is looking for in Iraq and Syria for this action sequel, since no story details have been confirmed, and it isn't known when production may begin. We'll be sure to keep you posted with any developments, but, in the meantime, what do you think about Rambo: Last Blood set in the world of ISIS?

I'm sure an insurance company is going to OK a film to shoot in an active war zone controlled by people who would be willing to burn the entire cast and crew alive.

I think he's confused. He's not good w/ the internet. He may think he's on google right now. So be careful.

OldBoy was simply adding to inri222's jab at Stallone's fellow aging action star (Schwarzenegger) and his last outing as the Terminator (another franchise that may be best to let die already - though I'd argue Rambo already ended on a high not, unlike The Terminator).

I've said this before but let me say it again, Rambo 5 should have more in common with Gran Torino than Rambo 4. Trying to top Rambo 4 will be complete overkill and will not work. It should be a somewhat low key film. Especially with how 4 ended.

I want to see Rambo go back to the town he got kicked out of in the first movie and make up with Brian Dennehy. Then they can team up and kick evil sheriff David Caruso's ass.

We really need a remaster of First Blood. I don't think people really think of it as a film classic but it very much is. Fucking great movie. It looks fine... but it could be much better.

The last time Rambo was in the middle east he helped create the Taliban. I'm sure this will go well.

By far the best Rambo movie by a long mile. I've seen it so many times I've lost count. Liked the others, but I like the whole one man against a town.

Update (False):
Sylvester Stallone’s agent has officially debunked this rumour. “Sylvester Stallone did not attend Comic-Con 2015, and consequently there was no official remark from him regarding Rambo made there at the event,” the rep says.

Good. John Rambo had such a wonderful peace to end w/ that character.
I love First Blood. It's just a great movie.
But after having read the book some time ago.... I do wish we could get a closer adaptation to it. There's an interesting dynamic in it that the film didn't do. Really added a lot to the premise for me.
No matter what though.... another adaptation of it would get look at so strongly cuz of Stallone's film.

I'm not necessarily opposed to the character coming back but Rambo had such a perfect ending for the character that I'm glad that was the last one.

i loved the series, especially the last. and it was a perfect way to go out. just like Rocky Balboa was, but Creed did prove otherwise...

The last one really did end well, but man Rambo vs. ISIS could have been brutal. If he makes an Expendables 4, I hope he could make it just as violent as Rambo.

Yea I also agree that as far as Stallone/Rambo they ended it perfectly.
This is the ONLY series that I wish would reboot with a Vietnam prequel, and then a new First Blood. I've always wanted to see Rambo's Tour in Vietnam.

I still like the idea of an Unforgiven, slow paced final film... it doesn't need to have crazy action. Maybe a young filmmaker will present an idea and offer to direct the last Rambo film... turned out OK for his other franchise.
Glad he's not involved with the proposed Rambo tv series.
