I sorta forget that the first movie was played more serious than the remaining films. But yeah. The jokes were there, the action was over-blown but the violence was pretty hard. I suppose Die Hard also hits the mark... I dunno. I didn't fund the film, but I plan on watching it as I love all four of the main leads in other stuff. Maybe not in the theater... but a DVD buy at least.

That scene was awesome. I loved where Murdock laughs after Face says he lit his arm on fire. I grew up with the tv show, so I really hope this one turns out well. It looks like it's going to be alot of fun. Fun is something we haven't really gotten this Summer. It's been very drab and lifeless.

I knew Copley was a talent when I saw D9, and this seems to prove his versatility.
Q: how in the hell did Bradly Cooper get to be so freakin ripped? I saw a preview clip where he was doing some sort of exercising and would never have thought that was the Phil from The Hangover. While I know this is an ensemble movie, I could easily see it helping turn Cooper into one of Hollywood's next big leading men.

Cooper is definitely on his way to stardom. Especially if this does well and he has Hangover 2 next year. He was also a finalist for Green Lantern.

He was great in Alias, and I remember seeing him in Wedding Crashers, thinking it was great he was playing such an asshole. I also think hes right on the edge of stardom.

I first saw Cooper in Wet Hot American Summer. It always strikes me as kinda funny how he turned into a tanned, muscular, dirty blonde romantic comedy star.

Mr. T and Dirk Benedict don't seem to think much of this, but maybe that was to be expected.

I can understand why they feel the way they do, but if they had taken the approach of the original, then it would almost have to be played as a comedy. The original, while good as a kid, only holds up if you look at it as a live-action cartoon in the style of G.I. Joe. It was made for the whole family with kids obviously being the target audience. That wouldn't work today.

I probably shouldn't tell you what I thought of the movie until Thursday at least, because I am theoretically embargoed, but I will say that I love it when a plan comes together.

why would a reviewer be forbidden to talk if they liked the movie? wouldn't that create a buzz and be a good thing... i can understand a negative opinion being squandered until release, but positive could only help.

Because if you start running in to praise every movie you like, people will start noticing when you don't do that.

"Though he films his action scenes in the increasingly annoying modern style (namely, shooting them so frantically that you can't actually tell what's going on in the frame), Joe Carnahan hits just the right balance of fun and fury here."

Can you confirm this? This is a snippet of a review on Rotten Tomatoes:
"Though he films his action scenes in the increasingly annoying modern style (namely, shooting them so frantically that you can't actually tell what's going on in the frame), Joe Carnahan hits just the right balance of fun and fury here."
