Re: H2, aka Halloween 2 (Rob Zombie)

I'm watching the unrated cut now.

Since so many people said this was terrible I haven't bothered to see until now.

It's already getting on my nerves... but we'll see I'm maybe 15 minutes in.

Re: H2, aka Halloween 2 (Rob Zombie)

I started watching this the other night off of Netflix. I got the first Zombie-directed Halloween so they would got back-to-back. I actually turned this one off about half way through. Before I return it, does it get any better? Seems like it's just a bunch of shots of Laurie Strode screaming obscenities and incoherent ramblings mixed with shots of Sheri Moon Zombie in a white gown and Malcolm McDowell frowning at the camera because he realizes what a mistake it was to get involved with this flick.

It's a bad film and it doesn't get any better. The best part was the opening scene is the hospital.

So you're saying I should just stop right now and spare myself the agony? Problem is, my curiosity is now aroused and I feel I need to see what all the bad talk is about.

It's an endurance test of wills, to be sure, but I say finish it off so you can proudly talk shit like the rest of us with clear knowledge of how badly Zombie fucked up.

Re: H2, aka Halloween 2 (Rob Zombie)

It took me about 5 times to make it through... And I think I was screaming at the screen as much as Mcdowell was screaming at people. Or Laurie was screaming at people.. You get the idea.

Re: H2, aka Halloween 2 (Rob Zombie)

I liked this movie from begining to end!
I will buy this!
Better than the 1981 version.
The photography of the movie is beautiful with the way they set up the colors.
The killing all looks like real. The music is good and the rock songs they used.
The only thing I didn't like as with the original films is they don't say how Myers gets his power and can not die.

Yeah, this flick was pretty terrible - the white horse shit was beyond horrible as well.

Why the hell did they do that with the Loomis character???? Made no sense at all.

Re: H2, aka Halloween 2 (Rob Zombie)

Okay, I just finished it. How on earth could someone make a movie this damn bad? It's like Zombie saw his great opening weekend he had with the first one as proof that he is the new master of horror. He apparently took too much of what was said of the first (that the first act was good when it stuck to original material, and stunk once it went for frame by frame remake) to heart. So tell me, is the ending on the Unrated DVD the alternate one? How did it end in theaters? Did it involve pretentious ending with a horrid cover of "Love Hurts" playing?

The only thing that makes me give this 1/2 star as opposed to zero is the fact that it had a brief Weird Al cameo.

^

From Wikipedia:

Spoiler:
The police discover Michael's location and surround the shed. Loomis arrives and goes into the shed to try to reason Michael into letting Laurie go. Inside, he has to inform Laurie, who believes that the younger Michael is holding her down, that no one is restraining her and that she must maintain her sanity. Just then, Deborah instructs the older Michael that it is time to go home, and Michael grabs Loomis and begins repeatedly slashing his face and stabbing him in the chest. Stepping in front of a window while holding Loomis's body, Michael is shot twice by Sheriff Brackett and falls onto the spikes of some farming equipment. Apparently released of the visions, Laurie walks over and tells Michael she loves him, then she stabs him repeatedly in the chest and finally in the face. The shed door opens and Laurie walks out, wearing Michael's mask. As she pulls the mask off, Laurie transitions to isolation in a psychiatric ward, grinning as a vision of Deborah dressed in white stands with a white horse at the end of her room.

Re: H2, aka Halloween 2 (Rob Zombie)

So... in the original ending I guess Zombie was trying to be clever and say that
Spoiler:
Laurie was the killer? If so there is no way she was able to do all of the killing as she would have had to clone herself. Also, was Laurie supposedly dead at the end of the DC, or was it just sloppy moviemaking that didn't explain she was still alive?

It's not worth the effort. It's just a really, really, really, bad movie.

....but here's some info anyway:

Spoiler:
Zombie fucked up by trying to go the supernatural route, Michael was real because Loomis acknowledged him a the end. Laurie was seemingly being held down by young Michael but it was all in her head....Loomis even shouts those exact words to her when she's screaming.

The white horse bullshit at the end could have many meanings but none at all that would link laurie to being the killer. Again, it was a huge failure at trying to add a supernatural element to the movie - it was very poorly done and just didn't make any sense.

So in essence, Zombie was trying to be clever but screwed the pooch.
