They are betting the entire studio on H2.

They also have Shanghai hwhich i think looks good (and is rated R- Hooray!) but thats been delayed for almost a year now also.
I really hope they survive. They still piss me off less than almost all the other film companies.

Fixed.

H2 is DOA. Everyone in Hollywood knows it. Releasing it against another horror film on the same weekend with another horror franchise sequel that already has built-in audience and gimmick is suicide. Even Final Destination's producer Craig Perry came out publicly and stated, "Even if we both fail that weekend, we will fail less than you." Even if Final Destination bombs, it's not going to ruin an entire studio (it's Warner's picture at this point, not New Line's).

The Weinsteins deserve to fail. As much as I love Tarantino, I hope Basterds fails and H2 just being the extra nail in the coffin.

If Basterds fails that means it affects Universal too (granted it wouldn't hurt them actually they're too big for that)...I don't want no people harmed that don't need to be harmed.

I'm not to sure what the 'split' is on Basterds. If it fails, how much will it hurt Weinstein (since they obviously got some money from Uni for splitting the release). H2 is 100% Weinstein. And it will fail. No doubt.

Re: H2, aka Halloween 2 (Rob Zombie)

If Basterds fails, Universal is unaffected. Universal is a pure fucking winner in this situation. The film will probably do decent number overseas where Universal has the rights to it, but hey, they also scored the home video rights in the states due to the Weinsteins' financial troubles. Universal makes out like bandits even if the film tanks theatrically here.

Weinsteins' last $30 million (in cash) is on the line with both the Basterds and Halloween II theatrical releases. It'll be interesting to see what happens, but it doesn't look good at all for the brothers Weinstein.

I'M really pulling for this to kick final Destinations ass. At least Rob Zombie knows how to put together a good genre cast and a good retro soundtrack. Final Destination doesnt have really anything that interests me beyond a dvd rental. ....

Re: H2, aka Halloween 2 (Rob Zombie)

The Final Destination series has a much bigger appeal to the young adult audience. I've only seen the first two, but I'll bet anything this will have a much bigger weekend than H2.

Weinstein should've opened it up in October on a relatively dead weekend. Opening in August again is just foolish.

Who gets the control of their films if they go under?

I think nobody really knows the answer to that. I'm assuming some studio will buy the rights once the studio declares bankruptcy, but until that point, it'll just be a guessing game.

Final Destination 2 and 3 are entertaining sequels. With the crew from the first sequel back, I'm even more pumped up for this outing than I was for 3. Halloween was just a terrible reboot.

Completely agree. It shouldn't have been remade anyway, especially with a shitty director like Zombie. I hope H2 fails so bad that Rob Zombie doesn't make another movie again and disappears forever.

The Devil's Rejects was fantastic, a depraved, evil, and sometimes very funny road movie from hell. Other than that Zombie's record has been unfortunately spotty, House of 1000 Corpses and Halloween were both awful.

that trailer now has me excited. I was going to see it anyway, but that doesn't look too bad. I wasn't a fan of the first trailer at all.

That trailer sucked ass, too. I seriously can't wait to see this trainwreck next week. Failure on an epic level is expected.

That trailer sucks. Rob Zombie sucks. The Weinsteins suck. I dug the music though, so does that mean Michael Myers will get shot up to death as Free Bird plays on the soundtrack?

Honestly, I wouldn't put it past the guy if I didn't already know how it ended.

Reading the small interview Maxim did with Zombie gave me a headache. I hate that fuck even more now. I hope this flick goes down like the Titanic and takes this dipshit with him.

Re: H2, aka Halloween 2 (Rob Zombie)

From ropesofsilicon.com:
A leaked trailer for Halloween II found its way online recently and director Rob Zombie commented on its unexplained appearance to EW saying:

"When I first saw the trailer [cut by the company Buddha Jones], I went, 'This is the f—ing movie we made.' And then [Dimension Films] was like, 'We don't want to use it, we don't like it,' and they just threw it away. Then they cut all these other trailers that just look like generic, stupid f—ing slasher movie trailers, and I was f—in' pissed. In fact, I wrote this long letter to the promotion department: 'I hate these trailers and these TV spots, and I f—in' hate you.' You spend forever trying to craft something special and they're gonna market it like a generic piece of '80s slasher movie sh– because they think audiences are so f—ing stupid they can't understand anything else. That trailer leaked from wherever, and I'm thrilled. The response has been like, 'Wow, I didn't want to see this movie until I saw this trailer.'"

And it still shows part of the scene where he flips over a car. I hate the idea of that happening in this movie.

See, I hate to keep bringing this up, but no matter how you slice it, this is threadcrapping. I don't want to act like I have a beef with the poster, but I do have a problem with this kind of commenting. I'm really fuckin' pumped for this movie and it totally kills my enthusiasm to come into a thread that's supposed to be filled with fans anticipating the movie and read something like this.

Exactly how different is it than the other trailers? It is, essentially, the exact same basic "plot" of the trailer, with a few random scenes stuck in, and musical montage. It still potrays the film in the exact same manner as it has always been portrayed: a standard slasher flick with some pretentiously eccentric elements thrown in "just because."

As for comments as stated by Chimel or Elves being threadcrapping; the thread is merely an outlet for all perspectives related to the upcoming film, regardless of them being either positive or negative. The only way it would be a threadcrap would be if the title of the thread were something along the line of "Who is excited for Halloween II?. In that instance, the the title specifically denotes excitement in regards to the film.

Well the thing I liked best about the new trailer was that we get to see a lot more Brad Dourif who is one of my favorite actors to watch.

Also I thought the song in the trailer was more effective than whatever was used in the original trailers. he tone and feel of the trailer was to me entirely different than previously released trailers.
