The original is actually pretty good. John Lithgow, Kevin Bacon and the soundtrack are awesome. They probably won't set it in the 80's, but they should.

Admittedly, I've only seen Zack Efron in late night interviews, but I didn't get a "rebel" vibe from him at all. Are they really gonna cast David Archuleta's clone as Ren? Would a father really be concerned if this guy wanted to take his daughter out on a date?

Won't they have to have all the original songs AND set it in the '80s? I mean that soundtrack is classic, and it was a Broadway musical, too. I can't see this film succeeding without all the original music intact.

Either come up with original ideas or take a movie that should have been good but failed for whatever reason and remake that. This movie does NOT need to be remade.

...holy shit...it actually happened. Not a fan of it..just don't jive w/ it but...wow...they remade it. I thought it just...kind of died.

I think Craig Brewer is great but this will be tough to sit through, looks horrible.

I thought the "no dancing law" mumbo jumbo was an antiquated plotline in 1984. It's just damn silly now.

This looks awful and like they turned it into a Step Up film. It might have some unintentional laugh value though since all the lines straight out of the original film sounded hilarious in the trailer with the phoned in delivery by the dude playing Ren and such. I just don't buy it at all from what I've seen and it comes off like a total parody, but I'm sure that's not what was intended.

This could be the funniest remake since The Fog which had me laughing out loud throughout as it completely failed at being a good film and missed what made the original work.

That's the vibe I get from the trailer anyway.

This will always be the real Footloose and nothing will ever replace it.
