There may have been worse, but the one that immediately springs to mind is Even Cowgirls Get the Blues. It certainly was the last time I went to see a movie just because Uma Thurman was in it.

Agreed.
I had completely forgotten this movie. It had a few redeeming qualities but overall it was so bad I think I've sort of repressed it. If we're going by most repressed, I'd have to say the DeNiro/Murphy movie Showtime. I saw it in theatres (according to my Rank 'Em list) but I don't remember a single thing from it.
Movies I saw this year that Fool's Gold was better than: Incredible Hulk, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Tropic Thunder. It hurts me to type that, but I really enjoyed myself at Fool's Gold. I also have a weakness for brainless movies set in tropical locations, which explains why I own Captain Ron.
I almost drove down to DC (a 2-hour drive) to see this theatrically. Guess I'm glad I didn't.
Agreed. You know this movie is bad when I liked Crash, The Island, and The Pacifier more.
And, finally, with these I will go ahead and assume you were forced to see them by a significant other or family member.

I didn't HATE it, I was just completely confused by the plot and felt I couldn't understand it. It's not shit. Perhaps I should give it a second chance, but the plot highly confused me despite my respect for the film's politics.
Oooh, I forgot. Miami Vice. I LOVE Michael Mann. Thief, Manhunter, Last of the Mohicans, Heat, The Insider, Collateral...all great movies. But none of those relied on long, meandering sequences of boat rides, clubbing, and one-night stands to progress the plot. The often inaudible dialogue was as if it required a Master's in criminal justice to understand it. Only one part was worth it, which was the climactic shootout. Had it had, say, things like more fluent dialogue and character development, it'd rank up there, but it didn't. He tried to elevate the TV show movie from hell with something good and it backfired.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Some of these choices are ridiculous. I sat through Super Mario Brothers. That was the worst movie I'd ever seen in a theater. There is no way in hell that FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF is the worst movie you've ever seen. I don't care how "internet cool" you are trying to be.

I would go with Bangkok Dangerous (Cage looked about as bored as I did) and Wolf with Nicholson. I only stayed with it because of looking at Pfieffer numbed the pain and I don't drive and couldn't walk home.
Even if a film is bad I really don't feel like walking out. They may always be one glimmer of hope in there somewhere!

The Mutilator (the theatrical R-rated cut) I was so miffed I threw my empty candy bag at the screen, I also hated (at the time) C.H.U.D
There is a Casper Van Dien 2004 film called Hollywood Files which I saw at a film festival - it was soooo bad, to call it stupid would be an overstatement.

There's no excuse for a lot of these, you should have known that they sucked before you went in. If it's based on a video game, a television show, or has a roman numeral in the title -- it's probably crap.

oh and then's there's Stardust a 2000 film that starred Willie Nelson, the highlight; when laserbeams shot out his eyes.... generally the Mill Valley Film Festival showcases alot of good to excellent films, this though, was the bottom of the barrel - truly TRULY terrible.

I love it when people flip out at other folk's personal opinions in threads like this.

INDEPENDENCE DAY
I saw it opening weekend, before reading reviews. I thought - based on the trailers - it would be a serious, thoughtful piece of escapist entertainment of an alien invasion (like WAR OF THE WORLDS was, aside from the Spielbergian schmaltz). Instead, it was just silly, over-the-top, sentimental and completely unbelieveable. I never squirmed so much or groaned so often during any movie (with the exception of a good adult flick).
I also walked out out of STARSKY AND HUTCH (I was on a cruise ship) and was just bored and depressed watching the cheapie SWAMP THING.
The most disappointing movie I've ever seen in a theater was definitely SUPERMAN IV, followed years before by SUPERMAN III.
