Though speaking of Soderbergh, wasn't it his Bubble that was the first, or one of the first, movies to simultaneously come out in theaters and on DVD? Not that your point isn't valid, of course.

That was the joke. HD Net has made a deal with a few production companies to premiere movies on their network during the theatrical run, and I think Bubble was the first to do that.

Also, since Bubble, the HD Net Movie premiere date has changed from day-and-date with the theatrical release to the Wednesday two days before the release. The DVD release date in stores has always been the Tuesday after the movie was released in theaters.

I wonder if theaters have to deal with the reverse?
Like, if a movie's advertised as DTV, do people call up or go to theaters trying to find it playing?
"Why aren't you guys showing Scorpion King 2?"
"Because it's at Blockbuster."
