As for the movie. TDKR was simply the best film of the year and could end up being in my top 5 of all time. I will be going back to see it, but jeezus. |
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
I was disappointed with Bane as a villain in this film. Tom Hardy did good with the material given him, but Nolan achieved making The Joker *far* more fearsome than the man who broke The Bat.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
What a horrible story. Reading that sounds more like an over the top episode of a tv show than something that would really happen, just terrifying to imagine what those people went through. I wonder what the hell this guy was trying to prove.
|
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Considering he did this at a midnight showing, knowing there would be a sold out show, it sounds pretty intentional. Makes me fucking sick some asshole would do this. Takes the fun out of going out, especially for something that was supposed to be exciting and fun for everyone. I lost my desire to actually want to go see it this weekend. Maybe in a week or two.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
I wonder if this wasn't the final Batman movie for Nolan and Bale if they would have signed on for another movie after last nights events. Sounds like something that would permanently turn them off from ever helming or donning the cowl again.

Kind of how I felt. I really liked the movie but I thought Bane fell a bit flat. Having to wear a mask that hides much of his face doesn't help. And how could anyone really live up to Heath Ledger as the Joker?

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
One small nitpick that just came to mind... To me it seemed that the first two films did a fairly decent job of disguising Chicago as Gotham, that it really stood out when there were several shots in this movie where they didn't even try to hide the fact that this one was in New York City, complete with the long shot where you could see One World Trade Center under construction, and another shot of Saks Fifth Avenue.
The more I let this sit, the more I want to go back one more time for a 2nd viewing. I'll probably catch a matinee in the middle of the week when I don't have adrenaline and caffeine keeping me awake! |
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
I actually enjoyed Bane more than I did The Joker. There was something about how ruthless he was but at the same time, so polite. Not to mention, it was nice to see an actual physical threat to Batman.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Bane was way scarier than Joker.
I didn't like how Bane was taken out...went out like a bitch. Pisses me off because he would've been one of my favorite villains of all time. |
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
I will agree that Bane's demise was anti-climatic. It just felt...wrong.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Out of curiosity, what was David Letterman's "spoiler" that he revealed about a week ago on his show that pissed everyone off

Had 12:01 IMAX tickets for a while but today decided to buy a ticket for Dark Knight preceding it so that I wouldn't have to line up ... given the line-ups that were starting even before the showing of TDK started, it was money well spent.
Only the movie did not start till 1 sometime. Seem no one told us sometime happen. I was wondering why I I seen so many cop cars out around there. I just thought it was late and I am never out that late. |
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
There was a quirky blink-and-you'll-miss-it scene:
Spoiler:
It was a strangely funny touch. |

And yes an old worn out bruce would want to retire. I even said as much earlier. However, why does he need to fake his death in order to retire? He can simply hang up his cowl and call it quits. There's zero need for an elaborate fake death plan to simply retire. Spoiler:

The scene in TDK where Batman is wailing on The Joker in the interrogation room and the Joker just laughs is way scarier than anything Bane did in this film. |
