I saw it tonight at IMAX and couldn't understand everything Bane said. Maybe it's the accent, I'm not sure. I remember having trouble understanding Calypso in Pirates 2 back in the day as well until I got used to it. Whatever, I'm not too worried about it...

And it looks like that's confirmed here:

Just out of morbid curiosity, can somebody summarize the "knife" discussion from TDK thread?

The coolest guy in the world, I mean this guy makes Fonzie look like a square, made some well reasoned and erudite points about the lacking quality and workmanship of the knives Joker carried as a supposed knife collector.

He was universally praised for his unimpeachable points, and was a hero in the thread.

The end.

Did anyone else notice that 90% of the trailer was comprised of previously released images? The football game, the battle on the courthouse steps. I find that odd.

Well, those scenes were shot on location and seemed like anybody with a camera (which is 95% of people now) could film and upload it. So, not that odd to me. Plus, they don't want to reveal too much, there's still another 7 months before its release.

Reason for feeling this way?

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

^Exactly, it's not like that was officially released material. We've gotten a few stills here and there, but that's about it. Most of the stuff we've seen were spy shots taken during production that was unofficial and out of context.

With the Dark Knight trailer I felt like they were showing a lot but once I saw the film I realized it didn't even scratch the surface. The less we know, the better.

MartinBlank 12-23-11 11:21 AM

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

I thought it interesting that the trailer could have been cut to show us stuff we've already seen, thus, keeping the ultimate story/mystery under wraps.

I could see Nolan doing something like that..."Oh. Some fanboy's taking set shots with his iphone and ruining the "fun"...I guess I'll cut the trailer to include only those shots..."

I found it weird that some are really harshing on the trailer, which is made all the weirder because these people are harshing on images we're already privy to.

And maybe I'm completely wrong. Rarely is there the fervor to the release of a film such as this.

The courthouse, football, and batwing stuff were all shot in Pittsburgh before the shoot moved back to LA. Those scenes were done early, so that means the effects were finished first, so that's probably why they made the trailer.

My ideal Batman movie would have VERY few punches thrown, it'd be more of a Neal Adams's-stylized Gothic detective/horror story.

With original grey/blue costume and a real Batmobile and Batcave

Incidentally, *nothing* (especially action) is integral to Batman except for the bat-like costume. Adam West's Batman vastly differs from Tim Burton's, as that does from Joel Schumacher's, Paul Dini's, Frank Miller's, Christopher Nolan's, even the incredibly fantastic and prematurely canceled Brave and the Bold cartoon. The character is a "legend" to be interpreted by (hopefully) extremely creative and talented people. Everyone has their definitive version...

He's not a legend. He's real.

And how DARE you put Joel Schumacher's name in there with the great Batman creators? he did nothing but spoil the franchise. He ruined the character and the movies! Batman is serious business!!!!

The suit wasn't originally grey and blue, it was grey and black. Sometimes blue highlights were used, and eventually this spread out to an all blue cape and cowl.

I used to think it would be interesting to see a campy Adam-West-Dick-Sprang-style Batman movie, but i realize it just doesn't translate well to the big screen.
