okay, NOW I've seen the trailer - looks like a adult version of the 'Red Balloon' and yup... in 3D - woohoo!!

Sanjuro37 11-10-08 04:51 PM

Pixar could remake Gummo and make it the most charming and heartwarming picture of the year. I'm in.

And Cars is tied with A Bug's Life as the lesser Pixar film. But that's only because the rest are tied for first.

The Bus 11-10-08 04:51 PM

 I search via Google and that thread didn't come up (pun intended).

I think many will agree 'Cars' is their weakest effort, but the thing was pure gold as far as merchandising/marketing. Every studio has to have a film that is panned as there "worst"... its just with the case of Pixar, there worst really isnt all that bad when compared to others in the genre.

Pixar's Masterpiece for 2009 - Up (In Theaters 5/29/2009)

A trailer has surfaced (only on youtube for now) of Pixar's Up, their release for 2009.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/wvt9H01wFQY&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/wvt9H01wFQY&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

There's a rather sparse website for the film here.

Looks like another complete departure from what they've done before, and will probably be very charming. As always, can't wait!

A lot of people seemed to come out and hate Wall-E.

Hokeyboy 11-10-08 05:44 PM

I really, really liked "Cars". I know I'm in the minority on that one, but it's a movie with a lot of heart, a lot of humor, and one REALLY unfortunate dated pop-culture reference that I thought Pixar was above. Otherwise, yeah it's not Pixar's best but it's still a sweet little movie. Anyone who disagrees is the reincarnation of Pol Pot!!

...or Apple's trailer site: http://www.apple.com/trailers/disney/up/

I can't really blame them but how much longer are they going to try and incorperate old films into their trailer? We get it Pixar! You make awesome movies...

Michael Corvin 11-10-08 07:56 PM

I already started a much more thorough thread a few months back.

Bumped and added Trailer #2 as pointed out by jason.

I get mildly annoyed with movies with titles so short they make it hard to find in searches. Anyway, there seems to be a bit of inspiration from Howl's Moving Castle.

Yep, but then again two letter searches would bring up an unfathomable number of threads to wade through. Just gotta think outside the box. Want to find Up! search for Pixar. Want to find a 24 thread? Search for Jack Bauer. ;)

Giles 11-10-08 09:23 PM

I think if you do a generic "Up film" search, you might wind up with a Russ Meyer film ;)

Missed the last few Pixars but this looks great.

shaun3000 11-10-08 10:34 PM

What, really? You owe it to yourself to at least watch Ratatouille and Wall-E.

I didn't think Wall-E had gotten distribution in Bizarroworld.

I guess you weren't following the Wall-E thread here very closely, or are familiar with our good friend Mr. Orndorf :p

Could just be the Disney Marketing Department.

hardercore 11-11-08 12:55 PM

Whats with the three "Up" threads?

Remind me, he's the one that gave the film a D+, yes?

Fanboy 11-11-08 01:33 PM

Regarding the trailer, lest this turn into another "Cars is great/no it's not"-thread* i have a question about the trailer -- where the hell does that boy scout come from?

He's not on the porch when the house initially takes off, nor on the porch when the house passes the girl's window. I suppose he could jump onto the porch from the building's rooftop...

*although, to weigh in, I hated Cars in the theatre, but have come to appreciate its story and characterization through repeated viewings with my Cars-obsessed 3 y.o. son.

I would assume the kid's on the porch, by accident when the House lifts off by all those balloons, he's just an innocent bystander literally swept up by the event.
