TAKEN - Bloody brilliant Luc Besson masterpiece !

Been a fan of Besson ever since Leon the Professional

Taken is absolutely awesome ! Liam Neeson is amazing as an ex spy whose daughter gets kidnapped by sex trade traffickers

I know it only comes out in the US in September but it will be a must watch

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0936501/

supporting cast Maggie Grace is who is surprisingly decent and Famke Jansen and for 24 fans, Xander Berkeley has a role.

Fans of 24 and fans of the Jason Bourne movies will love this one

Sounds a little shilly and misleading OP.

This is co written and co produced by Luc Besson, he didn't direct it. He co writes and produces a lot of crap, like taxi 1,2,3,4 and Bandidas. And this is directed by the guy who did district B13. The parkour stuff in B13 was awseome, but everything else in it was retarded.

I'm a little burned out on over the top retarded action movies, crank, shoot em up, wanted, that kevin bacon one, etc. Its too bad, would be nice to have a real action FILM again. Haven't had one of those in a while.

This is a fantastic movie. Bourne is the closest thing I can compare it to. It takes a few minutes to get going, but once started, the action is non-stop. One of my favorite movies of the year, easily. Can't wait to see in in the theater.

If Original Demond is shilly, then you must be the anti-shill.

You sound like you've already decided to hate this film, before you've even seen it, because you believe it's just like all the other films you consider to be "retarded."

I'm excited about the film BTW!

Somebody really excited over a movie makes them a shill now?

I saw the trailer for this awhile ago, and have been looking forward to it ever since.

Clearly the OP has been hired by Besson, Val Kilmer, Jerry O'connell, Simon Baker and whoever is in Greek to vaguely mention, sometimes enthusiastically, their work.

I got a chance to see it, and while I wouldn't go as far as to say it's fantastic, it is definitely a lot of fun and worth a look for the fans of the Besson factory. While it doesn't really stray from the usual Besson storyline formula - 20 minutes setup, and an hour of on and off action - seeing Liam Neeson laying it down is a hell of a lot of fun, watching him go up against Albanian human traffickers. The finale, which takes place on a boat is on par with action scenes from The Transporter. It's also nice seeing something new from the director of District B13.

US release must be edited. There's a couple of scenes i can think of that would have to be either heavily edited or cut altogether.

That is bad. There's no way the foreign cut would get a PG-13 rating. Hollywood strikes again.

Wasn't "Taken" the name of a mini series about UFOs?

Thanks for the info. Looks great. Isn't there another movie hitting the big screen, about a couple whose child is abducted by human trafficers ??

I don't really care for Maggie Grace, but with Liam and Fameke there, I might give it a try.

First thing I thought of from the trailer was Jack Bristow from Alias.

I didn't care for the trailer at all. It just looked like the same over the top thriller we've seen a million times before. However, I'll wait until the reviews are out and then I'll make my final decision.

Maggie Grace just has to play a stupid foolish giggling 17 year old. It's a role even she did not stuff up.

Really performancewise, it's all about Liam.

Got a chance to see this the other night from someone who got their hands on a screener (didn't ask). Loved it.

Watching Liam Neeson tear through Paris was just fun to watch. The plot is simple and the villains a bit generic, but Neeson makes this movie worth watching. A great performance. Fans of the Bourne movies will most likely enjoy this as well.

The US cut must take a lot out to get a PG-13, in the version I saw there's
Spoiler:
torture, gory headshots, a high body count and hell a lot of neck snapping and bone breaking by Neeson.

was pretty good. not a masterpiece. neeson owned his role. worth watching for him alone.

i think the cut i watched could be a pg-13, barely any blood in it. like when dude gets popped in his head when he opens the door. no blood.

Watch. This. Movie.

As well, not too bad to cut for PG-13. As mentioned above, there is a lot of violence, but it doesn't revel in it. More like an episode (or a whole season) of 24. Gotta do what you gotta do.

Will be attending in the theatre.

Damn, for some reason I looked at the title and thought "Shit, there's a Robert Bresson movie I haven't heard of??"

I'm looking forward to this, I saw the trailer on nothing but trailers, and was surprised that I had not heard a thing about it.
