Actually that makes the most sense. Even the character kept 're-imaninging' his origins so why not go a different route altogether?

I don't like that idea, simply because it would be a retread of the main them in TDK.

How about this: new evidence surfaces that reveals Gordon actually killed Batman's parents. Gordon is put in Arkham Asylum, but escapes. Batman fears for his life, but when Gordon catches up with Batman he reveals that he was actually good friends with Batman's parents and so Gordon takes on Batman as a sort of foster child. But they can't talk all the time because Gordon is on the run. Then Gordon is killed when he tries to save Batman from Voldemort.

That's it. I'm out of this thread, you're all out of your minds.

If it means he can throw cars and jump higher (like in the comics), I'm all for it!

I was going to say CGI, but then again, if they can recast Rachel Dawes, they can recast anybody.

Christian Bale...because Harvey's words still haunt him and he keeps seeing himself as the Joker.

I think if Depp did it, it'd just be his Willy Wonka again.

I nominate Jason Statham. Or Robert Carlyle.

... Not really, but I'd love to see it happen.

Check out this video of him:

Wow, that is good. I've always thought he was a decent actor too; not sure if he could imitate Heath, but I agree I bet he'd be great doing a small role.

I would say do it as a scene-stealing cameo, like one great Hannibal Lecter scene. Since the performance could never match Ledger, might as well go with star power and talent, so my vote goes to Johnny Depp.

Jack Nicholson.

He can return as the "real" Joker who claims that the previous Joker was just one of his henchmen who was impersonating him.

Another Wow at the Joseph Gordon Levitt similarities! That's incredible. I can't speak of his acting skills but damn he looks like he could work.

It would be cool if there was some footage cut from Dark Knight that could be incorporated into the third as a cameo of sorts for the Joker.
