Not only that but the hardest thing to mimic is the human face because we are all so attuned to the subtle nuances of expression and emotion that we read in one another's faces. Clu just looks totally off and fake every time he speaks or moves his face muscles. I'm hoping they're still working on it but right now its very distracting even in the trailers.

Stop with the trailers, dammit! This thing just needs to come out already. I'm sick of seeing promos for it.

But, I am also VERY stoked to see it.

The shots of CLU look bad, but the shots of young Flynn look perfect. Bridges performance as CLU in the first film was very strange and artificial. He had a robot-like voice and his body moved very stiffly. Perhaps they've made CLU deliberately artificial looking. Because the shots of Bridges as young Flynn are perfection.

Having watched the trailer many many times in IMAX, I think the problem is they're actually trying to capture every tiny facial movement, which makes Clu's face move too much. Take a look at when he says "I'm not your father, Sam. But I'm very, very happy to see you." The muscles around his mouth never stop moving, even when they should be still. It definitely has the look of someone trying to mimic human facial movements. He looks a lot better later in the trailer when he says "Come on Flynn, come on!"

They looked good, but they aren't perfect. A few shots in the latest trailer, while well-rendered, looked very CG.

Yeah, with the unfortunate exception of Clu 2, the movie looks fantastic.

Some more Daft Punk to rock to. Based on the 20 minute sneak, I can't wait to hear this in it's full glory.

I'm surprised there isn't a Blu-Ray release of the original to supplement this.

I think it's been reported that it's due to come out at the same time Tron Legacy hits Blu-ray.

I know it's in Culver City. My friend went, said they have a lot of decent merch, but most of the really cool stuff is only displayed and you're told you have to buy it elsewhere. He said it was funny that almost everything awesome he wanted wasn't actually sold there.

Interesting that Disney is releasing a sequel to a movie that is no longer available to buy or rent in may places. Some people might want to get a refresher before seeing this one. Although it seems like this one is being done in a way where one only needs the most basic familiarity with the original.

I just found out today that the 2-disc Tron DVD is OOP. Amazon Marketplace is selling it for $58 used, over $100 new!

It'd be cool if the movie has an overture.

If you go to the IMAX, chances are you will get one. All IMAX showings I've attended in Orlando play music from the soundtrack of whatever movie is playing. Worked really well for The Dark Knight and Avatar I might add.

Ha. I finally snagged it for $10 from Best Buy less than a year ago. Shocking though that the non-remastered, original, (I believe) non-anamorphic DVD is selling for $75 used.

After listening to that soundtrack I have a few comments:

1.) The track "Solar Sailer" has me excited the titular vehicle will be back; hopefully unchanged in it's core design.

2.) Only the song "Tron Legacy" feels like pure Daft Punk. I like they were able to take their sound and style and make it work for a movie, not merely another standalone album.

3.) I do hope the original "Love Theme" gets a nod in the film because it was a very memorable theme that I still think could work, even in the sequel.

oh, I forgot, It's a Disney movie and they love to take stuff OOP only to release it again later "for a limited time" in order to get big bucks

If you head back a page, I'm 99% sure the footage between 1:37 and 1:43 takes place on the Solar Sailer. It's been updated like everything else but I noticed it immediately...there are definite basic similarities.
