Sweet.

Still doesn't mean the remake will erase the original from existence.

^ No but it's time, money and sometimes talent wasted on unnecessary, shitty movies.

I've yet to watch the original. Guess I should get on that.

Unless you're the investor, no one is wasting your money. And no one is holding a gun to your head to force you to buy a ticket.

Personally I think bad sequels do more to tarnish a movie's legacy than a bad remake does.

That's not what I meant.

This plot sounds a lot like Monster Squad

Tye Sheridan, the actor who broke through playing opposite Matthew McConaughey in last year's indie drama Mud, has nabbed his first studio movie.

The young thespian has signed on for the lead role in Scouts vs. Zombies, Paramount's horror comedy to be directed by Christopher Landon.

The story centers on three high school Boy Scouts who must use their skills to battle vicious zombies after their small town faces a zombie outbreak. Sheridan will play the budding honors student who is handsome and athletic but doesn't know it yet, still lacking the confidence needed to talk to girls he likes.

Ugh! Why does everything today have to involve zombies? Sick of it!

Ugh. Not another Breakfast Club remake. Sky High was already one too many.

What the hell are you taling about? Sky High was clearly a remake of Cheech and Chong's Up In Smoke with a some elements lifted from Pretty In Pink.

Weird. They should just call it Zombie High or some shit.

The Monster Squad was a special movie because it got all the classic movie monsters together. I saw it in the theater way back and really loved it.

Re: The Monster Squad being remade...say it ain't so

The last we heard of the Monster Squad, director Rob Cohen was “kicking Paramount” to get the reboot of Fred Dekker’s 1987 classic off the ground.

Now, two years later, the project is publicly deemed “dead.”

In an interview with Platinum Dunes producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, they confirm the project is deader than dead, and probably won’t be resurrected. I could see it being revived if Universal’s new monster universe is successful, but for now it’s safe to say there won’t be a monster invasion out of Paramount.

Re: The Monster Squad being remade...say it ain't so

I really should watch The Monster Squad one of these days. Somehow I missed it when I was a kid even though The Goonies was one of my favorite movies when I was younger. I actually just watched it the other day and I still really enjoy it. I'm sure nostalgia plays a big part of it but it's still "good enough" for me.
