RIP George Carlin

I feel like I need to watch Bill & Ted even though I just watced it a few years ago.

Carlin was truly one of the most innovative stand-up comedians in history, mostly because he was pushing the boundaries of this medium without the cynicism that ruined Lenny Bruce's career. I knew he was in poor health in recent years but his death has really surprised me.

THIS is the death I'm saddest about this year. One of the funniest men that ever lived, and arguably the best at stand-up.
Might have to take a break from my Dirty Harry set and watch Dogma now.
You're gonna be missed, man.

Wow. Very sad. There are just some people you take for granted and assume are going to be with us forever. Carlin is one of those people. He will be missed.

DAMN
THE greatest stand-up of all time, and a magnificent wordsmith.
This one hurts. Alot.

My wife and I must watch his comedy routines about once a month and she loves his talk about the words "fine" and "nice". It's as funny on the 100th viewing as it was during the first viewing. To say he'll be missed is an understatement.

"Dang. George Carlin, Stan Winston, Tim Russert, Sydney Pollack, Heath Ledger all in the same year. Sad "
Add Harvey Korman to the list.
All of these people were great to grow up with.. Carlin was a great comedian, one of the best. Russert was a great newsman, journalist, Pollack made one of my first ever Western movies that I saw in the cinema, Jeremiah Johnson. Ledger did The Patriot and the upcomming Batman movie. And the Great Harvey Korman from the Carol Burnett Show and those Mel Brooks films are all gone now. I believe there were others too. It's been a bad year for popular people dying.

This is terrible. My buddies and I would memorize entire Carlin routines and do them all the time. Unfortunately, his comedy from the last 15 or so years cannot compare to his older stuff. I think I'm going to dig out some of his old tapes and give them another listen in his memory.
My 3 all-time favorite standup comedians:
Richard Pryor
George Carlin
Andy Kaufman
All gone.
Give a cheer for the life of George Carlin:
Rat shit! Bat shit!
Dirty old twat!
69 assholes tied in a knot!
Hurray!
Lizard shit!
FUCK!

This is the worst news of the year. And there has been a lot of bad news this year so thats saying something.
I remember when I turned 14 or 15 my mom took me to a George Carlin performance (this was back in 2002 or 2003.) He was great and still had so much energy. After the show we were leaving and saw Carlin exit and some people were gathered around him and were getting autographs and stuff. SO we went up to him and I was able to get him to sign my ticket. What a nice humble brilliant man.

I'm really upset about this. RIP George..
I wish we new what really happened to him. He went to the hospital with chest pains and then just died....why? They couldn't do anything to help him, at all? Or did they leave him waiting somewhere....or what??
Seems like maybe it could have been prevented, but who knows.

Does anyone know exactly how many stand-up performances Carlin gave throughout his career? It's gotta be at least a few thousand. Wast he still performing last year or early this year?
The man obviously loved to make people laugh and could have probably made bigger bucks doing more films or a sitcom or whatever but I feel he is probably one of few big-stand up stars who have never sold out to make a bigger buck.
Again, I must say thanks for the laughs George.

Wow! I'm really surprised. Not that it's a total shock, considering how he's looked these past few years. Still, I saw a billboard for him in Vegas just last week. He was a comedy genius, even if I think he really slipped into angry-old-man teritory the last few years.
From now until my dying day, everyone who drives slower than me is an idiot and anyone who drives faster than me is an asshole. George, I salute you!

He was just awarded something by the Kennedy Center (I think), and Tony Kornheiser was asking last week how they would air the special on PBS. Sadly, that won't be an issue at this point.
RiP, Mr. Conductor.
EDIT: It is the Mark Twain award for American Humor.

Sad sad news. Dad raised me on Carlin at a very young age. So thats Carlin, Kinnison, and Pryor gone, with Andrew Dice Clay as my favorite last one standing
Now I have "sure if you dont make with the head" stuck in my brain
