Add Harvey Korman to the list.
All of these people were great to grow up with.. Carlin was a great comedian, one of the best. Russert was a great newsman, journalist, Pollack made one of my first ever Western movies that I saw in the cinema, Jeremiah Johnson. Ledger did The Patriot and the upcomming Batman movie. And the Great Harvey Korman from the Carol Burnett Show and those Mel Brooks films are all gone now. I believe there were others too. It's been a bad year for popular people dying.
Is this the wrong thread to mention Cyd Charisse?

Just heard about this.

1. Shit - The bird shit on the statue.
2. Piss - I have to piss like a race horse.
3. Fuck - Fuck you.
4. **** - She has a rancid ****.
5. Cocksucker - Go to hell, you cocksucker.
6. Motherfucker - You are a motherfucker.
7. Tits - Hey, nice tits.

And I never got around to seeing him perform live.

R.I.P.

This is a complete shock. When I got online today I saw his picture, and just said "What, did George Carlin die?" and was completely shocked when that was confirmed.

I saw him twice in Chicago and I am very happy that I did so. The last time was a delayed show because he had congestive heart failure in January and the show was postponed to March, this was 2006 I believe. He was not in good shape that show, he actually screwed up his last bit and I remember him getting pissed and saying "FUCK! I forgot a part....that really pisses me off" and it wasn't funny, it was sad.

It's too bad he's gone, he was my favorite stand up comedian. One of the only out there that could always bring me to tears laughing.

I've enjoyed his work - especially his rants about words and their overuse or misuse. I'm not grieving or sad about his death - he lived a full life and seems to have accomplished what he wanted to do.

It amazes me how ignored her passing has been. On a movie message board, her inclusion should be automatic.

Wow. I saw him in October, and he was still full of piss and vinegar. Very funny (obviously). He was prepping for his newest special, and he started off his set by saying that he had his notes with him so that we would "hear the material as it was intended." He didn't need the notes.

He also told the most vulgar joke I've ever heard during this set. I sincerely hope it made it into the taped special (I was waiting for the DVD, but I guess it's time to acquire it through another means instead and re-watch it in remembrance of George).

Easily one of the best (if not the best) stand up comedians of all time. I feel lucky to have seen him live.

Rest in peace.

My favorite comedian of all time. I will miss him greatly.

I thankfully saw him live twice, the last time just 2 months ago at Foxwoods. He was fantastic.

RIP

And the really sad thing, is we're not half way done with the year. I completely expect to have at least one more cast member of Cars added to that list by year's end unfortunately.

Patrick Swayze, possibly as well.

BTW, don't forget Charlton Heston and Arthur C. Clarke.

Now wait a minute. That's what I've been hearing all over the news and now on the net. But when Richard Pryor died that's what they said about him. So which is it? When Don Rickels dies will the same be said?

It's possible for more than one person to be "one of the best (if not the best)". They aren't saying he is most definitely the best.
