One of my favourite Woody Allen's, and Sydney Pollack's preformance sure deservsed an award (every men can identify with his charatcer...)

Just bought the Frank Gehry documantary directed by him (it was closed-out sale at BigLot...)

RIP Mr. Pollack. He also made that great pro-OAR clip on The Interpreter DVD.

How Much My Brother Knows About Movies:

He tells me, "You know that guy that was in Ghostbusters with Bill Murray and the black guy? The guy who became a director? He died."

I said, "Harold Ramis? Really? I didn't see anything about it."

He said, "Yeah, that's him," and he goes to his computer to show me. He types in Harold's name, spelling it "Ramos", and after I corrected him, nothing came up but regular articles.

I told him to go to Yahoo, and I pointed out Sydney Pollack's obit. He said, "Oh yeah, that's who I was thinking of."

I laughed at him.

I always thought it was an under-rated flick. Maybe I like the fact that it has a performance by Penn that isn't over the top..

b/c while his performance may have been decent or even good, the movie as a whole is not representative of the quality of most of his work

That's ok. When I first read the news I immediately thought that old black dude died.

His midlife crisis was just so real. I was very impressed with his performance in this film.

It's a shame. I can't really put my finger on it but I always felt like I was watching a quality film every time I saw him on screen.

He'll be missed...

As a movie director, Sydney Pollack was amongst the top echelon with a list of achievements that noone could argue about. I grew up watching a lot of his movies and remember them all vividly.

As a character actor, he livened up many a movie and worked with the best of them.

Hope you didn't suffer too much Sydney.

R.I.P.
