yeah, I know, it was just as meaningless as your "argument" about snobs and art fucks.
and always? Really? ALWAYS? I've talked to you a couple of times on here, only because I find the avatar obnoxious.
I'm more clever than you give me credit. you wasted your time talking to me.
BTW, I was just messing with you, was in no way that you were supposed to take offense. that's what the wink is all about dude.

If I hear or read one more person advising me that to enjoy this film, you need to "suspend your disbelief" I`ll kill them.
It`s a buzz word used by people who have no idea what they`re talking about.

"Suspension of Disbelief" isn't a buzzword. It's been around for quite some time, and is an actual literary concept that applies to film.

Its a buzzword when used in the context of suggesting how I can enjoy a crap film.
Awake is a crap flim but if I suspend my disbelief, i`ll somehow like it.
A buzzword spends only a fraction of its life being used; the rest of the time it is being abused. The result is a phenomenon known as buzzword backlash, whereby the tide turns against a buzzword and it starts to fade from usage.

Well then the people you hear using it are using it in the wrong context as it certainly is not a buzzword.
Suspension of Disbelief would be like in Back to the Future. There are so many problems with the time travel implications that if you tore the movies apart you would never enjoy them. It's best just to suspend your disbelief that time travel is possible and enjoy the films for what they are.
A crappy film is a crappy film. Suspension of Disbelief can't help that.

I've noticed that you're a Red Sox fan posting in the MLB threads lately. Wait a few months when the season is in full swing and you'll be part of the Yankees/Red Sox debates. I promise I'll be first in line to pick a fight with you.

This turned silly, thanks to those who thought they were being the most serious. Which leads me to another useless argument: "I'm intellectual!" (This can show itself in many ways: emphasis on mechanics over substance, origin over substance,...basically anything over substance.) "My thoughts count twice as much as yours!"
Fuck it. For every intellectual who likes a movie, there's another intellectual who dislikes it. Intellectuals are a dime a dozen, and one in fifty knows shit about shit.

My point is that the "I'm an intellectual" argument is not an end-all because, in most cases, someone else can use the same argument to reach an opposite conclusion.
Also, "serious," "mechanics-loving," etc., etc., have little to do with my definition of an intellectual. But they sure sound a lot better--if you're mocking me--than those last few, so party the fuck on, dude!
The gist of it, so you understand, is that somewhere out there there's an intellectual saying, "Yakuza Bengoshi has no idea what he's talking about." And there's another one saying, "WTF! Yakuza Bengoshi is the greatest in all the world." And there's me, who's telling you to party the fuck on, dude!

I'm not too keen on the whole "this movie hasn't age well" thing.
