Interesting. It happens to be one of my favorite films.

Agreed. A terribly poor film with very little to admire. What is even more pathetic is that it took such a grandiose Hollywood mish-mash to recognize one of Spain's most gifted modern actors. Not surprising, sad!

Spiderman- I loved Spiderman 2, and thought the third one was okay. But the first one was stupid and cheesy as hell to me.

Agreed on every single count (except The Awful Truth needs to be added to the Cary Grant exceptions). And not entirely because we're brothers.

I'll add anything by Godard.

LORD OF THE RINGS - just not my type of adventure or genre

THE MATRIX - pretentious, bloated, noisy as hell

AMERICAN PIE - just not funny to me at all

MAGNOLIA - self-indulgent and self-important to the max

AMERICAN BEAUTY - we're forced to endure a bunch of idiot characters to make the popcorn fart of a message that there's a lot of beauty in life

Anything by Kevin Smith - just don't like his movies

INDEPENDENCE DAY - predictable, ridiculous and just plain boring...made for 12 year olds who haven't seen a Godzilla film

40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN - why is this funny?

SCHINDLER'S LIST - a serious subject trivialized by Spielberg...I thought this review was the most eloquent and thoughtful of this disappointing work Schindler's List critique

And there it is...the most hated film on these forums. I'm surprised it took to the second page to pop up.

A few on that list aren't really that popular. Like Rob Zombie? Never heard anyone rave about him.

So is I gather by the breadth of this list the list of films you actually enjoy is rather short. And I don't see how you can list movies that you haven't actually even seen. How do you know you will hate them?

There's a link to his collection in his sig. I'd be willing to bet that he enjoys those ones.

-Titanic (Saw this in theaters when it first came out, and have NEVER watched it again...how this is the top grossing film of all time amazes and disappoints me anytime I think about it)
-Lord Of The Rings Trilogy (I have no idea why people like these movies, and I don't think ever will...three long and boring movies that culminate in him dropping a ring into a volcano...utterly pointless)
-Napoleon Dynamite (I refused to watch this for the longest time...it just looked too stupid...one day it was on Comedy Central, and I had nothing better to do...I don't regret many things, but that day is among the elite few)
-Transformers (While I didn't see it, I just know I'd have disliked it...I had a Transformers toy when I was a wee lad, and it didn't work...worst toy ever...spiteful? Yes, I am)

I'm sure there are others, but that's all I've got right now...I hate Titanic...

EDIT: I just remembered another one...Signs...I hated that movie soooo much.

Hated, hated, HATED: Titanic

Underwhelmed: lots, but what comes to mind is the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, the second Matrix movie (put me to sleep), and all the new Star Wars. I take that back, I hated Phantom Menace.

Are you guys paying attention to the title? It's POPULAR movies that you hate, but some people are listing things that have bombed.

But anywho, back on track.

I cannot stand the two biggest trilogies, The Godfather and the Lord of the rings films.

As for the Godfather series. I can understand in its time it was pretty different from anything ever released, but something I don't understand is why do people quote them so much? I've had so many people say "I know it was you Fredo, you broke my heart" and its never in any way related to what the conversation was about. What the hell is wrong with you people?!

And Lord of the Rings, I just don't like Fantasy movies in general. If they made one movie about it and it lasted the length of one, maybe I would watch it. It's such a simple story drawn out for 6-8 hours.

I'm a fan of the first two (still think 1 is the best) and that is pretty lame. Great line in the movie though (the way it was delivered).

Lots of people love Rob Zombie. Devil's Rejects is pretty highly regarded, but I thought it was one of the worst films I've seen.

I actually enjoy a lot of films. My "hated" list contains roughly 100 films. That's a pretty small percentage of what I've actually seen.

Ringworm, I forgot Grant was in The Awful Truth. I don't hate that one. I did watch Hitchcock's Suspicion the other night. Grant kept calling his special lady friend "monkey face". It made me want to kick the shit out of him.

Also, let's go golfing in two weeks.

I'm glad so many others despise Transformers.

Even before I saw it, I had pretty low expectations. I'd seen most of Bay's other films and while he does know how to blow stuff up real good, almost any scene with human interaction seems to be drawn directly from some collective pool of movie cliches.

My one hope with Transformers was that, with no major movie stars in it, Bay would focus on giant robots beating each other up and then it wouldn't suck completely. He should be able to do that, right? Right?

No. Bay can't help himself. Every movie he makes has to be as bloated and ridiculous as his 80s hair style.

Before things start to blow up, we get ONE WHOLE HOUR of annoying, cliched human interaction.

A lead character who's still in high school. WOW!!! Never seen that before. And what do you know, he's got a crush on some girl. But he can't have her because she's dating a jock who's all wrong for her. BOO!

But maybe our hero can impress her if he gets a car. So he does, and it works! Now she's interested. But she's got a secret criminal past. OH NO! Will he still like her?

No time to think about that now! The giant robots are outside my house! I better make sure my clueless parents don't see them!

And don't forget the evil and/or antagonizing G-Man. I wonder if he'll get his comeuppance?

And on and on and on. . .

By the time I actually got to the big action scenes, I had spent so much time alternating between boredom and annoyance I wanted to both take a nap and punch someone in the face.

Transformers?

Michael Bay?

Another vote for E.T. I've never understood why people like that bucket of high fructose corn sweetener.
