Anyone know what the deal is with Chris Jericho's hatred for Rourke? I watched Larry King over the weekend, and Jericho was really pissed at Rourke. It didn't really look fake.

and now he is banned for 3 months :( no, he was good. i am glad he won and i actually caught some of the show on BBCA. but, how he knew Richard Harris and that they were friends is really puzzling to me.

sorry snake, but this just makes no sense to me. it's like saying you know you will love a movie because of the trailer. i have been bitten too many times by that logic.

I liked this movie, a lot. i didn't think it was perfect though. i almost wish it was about 20 minutes longer.

Spoiler:
i though they could have gone a little deeper into the relationship between tomei and rourke. it felt a little too forced to me. like one minute he was a creepy customer and the next minute she fell for him. i thought they could have done more to get there. it almost felt like their connection was forced.

other than that I really liked the movie. for a movie who's pace was a little slow, it flew by to me. i was surprised when it ended only because it felt like it just started.

I give it an A-

i agree i would have loved to see more of a relationship, but
Spoiler:
she was always a friend to him more so than any other customer, you saw that with their first on screening. i think she was very hesitant at first to do anything more, but you could see she was very troubled with it and that is what made her performance so great and why she is being recognized.

he broke her down steadily through the movie until she realized they weren't so different and that he was more than just a customer and she started to care. even at the end when she went to his match, you could still see her contradictions in feelings and wondering if she was doing the right thing and i don't think she really, truly "fell" for him, not by the end at least, but he did penetrate the barrier to give her some strong emotions

Well to make it accurate. I've seen the whole movie...but it's in bits and pieces. I have a friend who works for a theater. So i've seen everything this thing has to offer. I'll watch 20 mins...and then a week later I'll finish off another 20 mins. I have very little time to visit a theater so...i'll take what I can get. I haven't watched it all in one sitting though...

Imagine reading a book...you read and then stop. Later to continue on...yes, I know this is no way to watch a film. but...I'm pressed for time usually so....yeah. I'm usually watching again whatever I saw before and then continuing on only to shortly leave after those 20 or so minutes. Takes about a few or more times to finish a film like that. Yes, I'm odd...

Spoiler:
maybe i read it a little wrong at the first on-screening. to me, she was a typical stripper, playing up to a regular customer to get more tips. heck, they even ended the scene with her putting her hand out, asking for $60 and he gave her $100 telling her to keep the change. mission accomplished.

i still feel like they should have developed it a little more. even just one more scene to develop the relationship. to me, all they had was their strip club time and the one date they went to Elizabeth and to the bar. heck, i even thought the kiss was a little out of nowhere. not him kissing her, but her reciprocating. But maybe that's because I had it in my head that her whole befriending of him at the strip club was her act. maybe if I allowed myself to believe that she really did consider him a friend it would have been easier to accept.

dude, that is no way to watch a movie! when i watch a movie it is turn off the phone and don't bother me until it's over. there is so much you miss but not keeping with the flow of the movie. it could change the entire experience. heck, i try not to see anything good at weekend night showings. i will keep those for things like transformers and any other popcorn flick i want to see.

i have newborn twins and saw Slumdog on Saturday while I was waiting for my dog to get a bath. Make the time for the good ones!

I think you are definitely off there. I also think they had a pre-existing relationship before the first scene they shared in the film.

Watching films in bits and pieces, like a book, is not the greatest thing to do...I've done the same when watching a movie late, and I keep on falling asleep. I've given bad reviews to films that I eventually finished watching in which I was always falling asleep and watching them in bits and pieces, just because I was tired. And then whenever I had a chance to watch them as a whole later on during normal hours, I was surprised that they were actually good films...I've been trying to watch Afro Samurai Resurrection the past few nights, but I keep on falling asleep...

I fell asleep in the theater while watching Croutching Tiger Hidden Dragon, but it because I had traveled the previous day and I was still jet lag. For a couple years, I was calling it a bad and boring film, until I watched it when I wasn't tired. And it's a masterpiece.

What a massive waste of resources.

A DEA surveillance running on this guy.

What a joke.

They probably wanted to 'get' him for playing that part in the movie.

This is one of those perfectly ironic moments like Ted Demme having a coke enduced heart attack after making a movie about a guy ruining his life with coke.

I saw this article! So crazy. I would have never imagined that someone actually in the movie would be true. I guess art imitates life..

Just saw this and was easily one of the best of the year. Also a great ending. I wanted to watch it again right away. Really good performance from Rourke too.
