After watching Mickey Rourke and Chris Jericho on Larry King I sincerely hope that Rourke stays far away from wrestlemania.

Mickey Rourke won't rumble with WWE superstar
2 hours ago

HOUSTON (AP) — A spokeswoman for actor Mickey Rourke says he won't be taking his role as a professional wrestler into a real-life ring after all.

Paula Woods told The Associated Press on Wednesday night that Rourke will not wrestle WWE superstar Chris Jericho at Wrestlemania 25 in April at Houston's Reliant Stadium.

Woods wrote in an e-mail that the Oscar-nominated actor "will not be participating in Wrestlemania. He is focusing entirely on his acting career."

Rourke portrays professional wrestler Randy the Ram in the acclaimed movie "The Wrestler." He made a surprise announcement about the wrestling event Sunday night on the red carpet before the Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles.

Rourke had said he was going to toss Jericho "around the ring like tossed salad."

Anne Rice was down on Interview with the Vampire and then did a 180.

90 % says "aww, man, too bad."

10% says the denial is a work to throw us off and Jericho will call him out
for bailing.

I feel the same way, but just the opposite. I really hope that he stays far away from wrestling. I think he can have a fine second act acting career but if he gets in a pro-wrestling ring that he will be on Surreal life in 5 years.

Exactly he does not need to be in the WWE at all. Maybe if the film had some sort of tie in from the beginning, but not with Vince trying to ride coat tails near the end.

what an unbelievable movie. i can't wait to see Rourke get the Oscar. i was absolutely riveted. i could not take my eyes off Rourke and the screen. i had such emotion and that memorabilia signing session just floored me.

fantastic, fantastic. i absolutely loved the way Aronofsky had the camera fixated on close ups of Rourke and Tomei. it was simply a perfect technique for this move.

i was wrenched by the end and knew exactly how it was gonna end prior to that. it ended how it should have.

this was an actor's film, with Aronofsky subtely leading them along. a truly riveting masterpiece.

Cross promotional publicity is positive for Mr Rourke, The Wrestler Movie and WWE

But its uncertain for The Film Academy Awards Ceremony, thus Rourke's spokeswoman made a public statement.

i finally watched this the other night. finally a movie that is amazing from last year. i have been wanting to see a movie that left me thinking. something that everytime i hear the name of it it takes me back to when i watched it. mickey rourke was amazing...though i have always thought he was a great actor.

Awesome movie, although I walked in a few minutes late, so I came in when someone was asking Randy for his autograph and then Randy went to talk to his wrestling buddies.

I agree with others, Evan Rachel Wood's performance was okay, Rourke and Tomei really did some awesome work.

I say it last night...amazing! Everything about this was awesome. This is the first time in a while where I actually felt for the character (last time was Sideways...another Fox Searchlight production).

Incredible....here is to hoping the DVD has a great commentary about the matches and the production.

So I finally got to see this with my wife this weekend, and I thought it was fantastic.

I could have stayed in my seat to watch the next showing immediately afterward, if I had the time.

The acting was incredible and the story was excellent. A real shame that this isn't a best picture nominee.

Re: 'The Wrestler' D:Daron Aronofsky, w/Mickey Rourke

if Rourke doesn't win Best Actor i will never watch the Academy Awards telecast again, already mad it wasn't nominated for pic!
Spoiler:
wait, wait...i take that back. i will probably still watch.

and the reason Bruce wasn't nominated for song was because it was only played at end credits? different rules than Globes i guess.

I've still have yet to see it, yet I know I'll like it very much so. I want Rourke to win just based on the various clips I've seen of the film. I just wish it wasn't so far away for me to see it.

the end credits thing has nothing to do with it...otherwise peter gabriel wouldn't be nominated for wall-e.
