Depp came to mind before even looking at the choices. They're all good, I'd have Crowe second.

Christian Bale. The guy has proven he can play any part necessary and completely nail it. He's a phenomenal talent that should enjoy a long, fruitful career in films.

I would also throw out Ralph Fiennes and Min-sik Choi(Oldboy).

I really cant choose with that list. I think that those are definitely the top 10 if you swap Will Smith for Christian Bale. I might also Suggest Robert Downey Jr.

And though I think Depp might be slightly better, alot of his roles tend to have a quirky side to them.
