Best actor under 50 years old?
...

From that list, I choose Russell Crowe. This poll prompted me to look up a couple of actors, and I can't believe Tom Hanks is 52! Bosom Buddies seems like yesterday to me!
|
Christian Bale, his performance in American Psycho is one of my favorites.
|
out of that list, the only one with any "range" is Edward Norton. The others just play shades of the same character (quite well, I might add) over and over again.
|
Fucking hell, how did I forget Christian Bale? That's inexcusable on my part.

I also like Philip Seymour Hoffman (40). Cillian Murphy and Ryan Gosling are getting there as well. |

Hugh Laurie
|
Phillip Seymour Hoffman. He's great in everything he does. Not only acts in mainstream, but still does alot of Indie work. DiCaprio would be a close second.
Will Smith is on the list? |
Johnny Depp is my second pick, but my first would be John Cusack.

Here's another for Phillip Seymour Hoffman.
|
Kevin Spacey
Benicio del Toro James Spader Daniel Craig Forest Whitaker |
I voted Russell Crowe
|
Yeah Russell Crowe all the way. He can play any part. Well.
|
On that list...Russell Crowe
Other possibilities... Don Cheadle Eric Bana Gary Oldman (just barely, but still under 50) |

Norton or Phillip Seymore Hoffman, Johnny Depp and Don Cheadle are all great too though.
|
I voted DiCaprio, for me personally he's turned in more strikingly good performances. Special nods to Norton who needs to get back on track and wow people, Crowe who needs another epic story to work with (Best in Insider, LA Confidential & Gladiator IMO), and Clooney should definately get props for having range and being very entertaining no matter what role he plays.

OK, time to clean your Johnny Depp bed sheets, and teach me the Depp-head secrety society handshake. To ME, Depp takes on diverse roles, but at its core, yes, to me, it's the same detached performance he gives each and every time. |
