$20 says this movie is 400 times better than the trailer makes it out to be. I thought it was mediocre (the trailer), but this one could be really, really good. How can you go wrong with a 80's-set nostalgia trip about a kid trying to remake First Blood?

The concept sounds fun, but the trailer did nothing for me. It looked like another pre=packaged Paramount indie flick, which turned me off a bit... although that could be because the last indie flick I saw, Juno, left a bad taste in my mouth. If it gets some really good reviews I might check it out.

I saw this in Toronto and would be shocked if it doesn't get overwhelmingly postive reviews.

A well-made crowd pleasing movie.

Just saw it last night. Terrific, heartwarming, intelligent movie. Highly recommend it for the whole family. It's hard to find a flick where everyone can enjoy but all the kids (age 9, 11, &12) enjoyed this gem.

It has its heart in the right place but the film was rather disjointed and fairly amateurish even for an indie...we enjoyed it, but there were times when the screenplay and direction were suffering from bouts of bi-polarism which, in turn, became distracting.

I just watched it this weekend. Great great movie. The middle part does start to drag just a tiny bit, but the fantastic ending catapults the film to greatness. Yep, I cried. Son of Rambow has the emotional punch I wanted to get out of other flicks that didn't deliver the goods such as Lars and the Real Girl and Rocket Science.

Don't miss this if you enjoy sweet, heartwarming indie films.

nope it's with a 'w' - if you see the movie... well, just rent it...

I really liked this film, it was so utterly charming.

Bill Milner who plays Will, almost but not quite reminds me of Freddie Highmore.

I really really love this movie. Its probably the best childrens film I've seen since Millions. I just remember thinking...I had no frakking clue that Chuck Bass was British.

Wonderful film! Why does it have to be a stupid exclusive. So far I have seen new copies only at Movie Trading Company and Best Buy. Is it available other places yet?

I thought it was a best buy exclusive for the moment, I rented my copy from Netflix. I should have just bought it, since I enjoyed as much as I did. Listened to the commentary tonight, and it's just as delightful as the actual movie.

I thought it was BB exclusive also, but I was in Movie Trading Company last week and there it was, maybe they're just ignoring an embargo.

I didn't notice this until it was mentioned in the commentary but the band Travis is in one shot, Neil, Andy, and Fran, didn't see Dougie (all in their 'Driftwood' costumes - the director of 'Son of Rambow' did the video)

Re: Son of Rambow

Just saw this for the first time tonight via Netflix after a co-worker begged me to watch it. I have to tell you, the trailer for this film earns a big fat "F". You get no sense at all from it just what the movie is or the tone/style. Because it is absolutely fantastic. Creative, clever, charming, smart and laugh out loud funny. I couldn't even begin to compare it to anything other than maybe a British and smarter "Malcom in the Middle". I'm so buying this movie. And it's one of my favorites of 2008. Great stuff.

Re: Son of Rambow

I don't think I ever saw the trailer for this movie but I remember wanting to see it when it was playing at the local art theater - the description on their web site sounded intriguing - but missed it. I rented it a couple months ago and liked it so much I also went out and bought it immediately.

I thought all of the kids in the movie were goofy in their own way but very charming and the roles fit them like a glove.

Re: Son of Rambow

We flew to Miami back in Sept and this was the in-flight movie. We didn't bother with the headphones, but still kinda watched this off and on. It's a testament to how well this movie was made as to how well the story comes across without any dialogue. Might have to give this a rental and watch again.
