Thinking of someone else playing Krueger just turns my stomach.
When I heard about this remake I got in a whole argument with a friend over shitty remakes. He couldn't understand how I enjoyed Freddy VS. Jason but hates the Chainsaw remake.
The bottom line is I'd rather watch something new that knows it's a big stupid movie and can be fun rather than watching the same story I already know and love but shittier. What the fuck is the point of that? It's just frustrating.

Looks like we're getting a new Krueger.

This really pisses me off to no end. If they would just simply cast Englund and make a sequel I would be all up for it...but to act like this is going to be an original re-imagining is pathetic.
Someone get these writers the pay they deserve so we can stop with this remake nonsense.

Yikes
See I wouldn't mind if they remade any of the crappy sequels. Then again I really liked 3 (Dream Warriors) as cheesy as it was.

Ben Foster's name seems to be coming up quite a bit in some of the other forums I visit.
Apparently he kind of resembles a young Robert Englund.
I guess he could pull it off, but I'd much rather see Englund in a prequel instead of another actor in a series reboot.

I disagree. I think any nightmare flim/freddy could be effective if they went back to the tone of the first movie.

I agree with about everything you said. Freddy needs to go back into the shadows and lose the one liners. If they do that and go back to the orginal tone I think it could be effective.
That said I dont think they could do what I said because "the fans" would have a fit.

At the very least, I would've expected "That would be stupid because it would suck" or "That would be stupid because of how stupid it is."

We, Jerry Bruckheimer in partnership with MTV Productions, put Englund in the movie even though we're totally bastardizing one of the great horror films...it's a super-cool nod to everyone that's not gonna see the movie anyway!! See, he's technically IN the movie, even though Haley Joe Osmet is play the new super-terrifying, undead, cyborg from the firey pits of HELL...the new and improved PG-13-version Freddy Krueger!! ZOMGWTFBBQ this movie is gonna be so totally scary and totally of the hook, dawgs!!! Be sure to buy the super-hip soundtrack featuring all the evil-loud music groups and hardcore gangster rapping artists that your parents are sure to hate."
That and Englund IS a creepy guy. When I see him I see Freddy. Call it typecasting, but he will ALWAYS be Freddie Krueger.
If this does end up happening, he probably will end up with a "Fred" cameo like Craven's in 'Scream', which was more of an in-joke than anything.
