for those that are saying the housekeeper called MK, they need to get the story straight. the housekeeper called MK's bodygaurd whom she is friends with and was a block down the street and is EMT trained. to me it makes perfect sense to call him.

Do you have a link to that? We are all just going by the_Infidels post which stated she called MK who then called the bodyguard.

Heath May Have Died Sometime After 1:00 PM
Posted Jan 24th 2008 6:56AM by TMZ Staff

Heath Ledger may have died between 1:00 PM and 2:45 PM on Tuesday, according to a new timeline constructed by police.

Ledger, according to the AP, was observed "snoring" by his maid, who came into his room to change a light bulb. She left the room, and subsequently let the massage therapist into the apartment. The masseuse, Diane Wolozin, then found Ledger at 2:45 PM, and he was unconscious.

Wolozin, say reports, then called actress Mary-Kate Olsen, because she knew Olsen to be a friend of Ledger's.
It's still not clear as to what happened.

Overreact much? Some manager or employee set this up. There's no financial gain to be made by organizing Heath's movies into one place. People who work there are probably film fans and feel just as bad about his death as you do. Get off your high horse.

"I Think He May Be Dead"

NEW YORK, Jan. 24, 2008

(CBS/AP) Fearing a "media circus," the masseuse that discovered the body of actor Heath Ledger lying naked and face-down on his bed on Tuesday, picked up the actor's cell phone and dialed Mary-Kate Olsen, whose phone number was programmed into Ledger's phone, for advice.

"Heath is unconscious. I don't know what to do!" masseuse Diane Lee Wolozin said in her first call to Ms. Olsen, reports the New York Post.

Olsen said she would send over her private security. In the ensuing moments, the masseuse made a second call to Olsen, saying, "I think he may be dead. I'm calling 911," the Post reports. Paramedics - and Olsen's security people - arrived minutes later.

Authorities are investigating whether or not Ledger was breathing when the masseuse made the decision to call Olsen first, rather than 911, reports CBS News correspondent Kelly Wallace.

Police said Ledger probably died between 1 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. Tuesday. At 1 p.m., the housekeeper went into his bedroom to change a light bulb, saw him sleeping and heard him snoring.

"I didn't think anything was wrong," the housekeeper, Teresa Solomon, told the New York Post. She said she was "still shaking" and unable to sleep a day after the actor's death.

Medical examiner's office spokeswoman Ellen Borakove said the 28-year-old actor's autopsy Wednesday was inconclusive and that authorities would know more in about 10 days, when more tests are expected to be complete.

There were six different types of prescription drugs in the room, including pills to treat insomnia and anxiety, and an antihistamine, according to two law enforcement officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing.

Medical examiner Dr. Michael Wellner told CBS' The Early Show that it isn't easy to overdose on a drug like Ambien, a drug prescribed to treat insomnia. He says that it's unlikely Ledger died taking a few extra pills above the recommended dosage by accident.

"Well, anyone who takes way more than what's prescribed is doing it on purpose," says Wellner. "There are a number of pieces to the puzzle. If we're only looking for one piece, we're unlikely to find a solution."

"There are people who go a little bit over, and then there are people who don't expect at all to have a toxic reaction, but mix something that their body can't handle, and they tragically and unexpectedly die," says Wellner. "So many possibilities."

A rolled-up 20-dollar bill was found on the floor near the bed, but New York Police Department spokesman Paul Browne said lab tests found nothing to indicate the bill had been used to snort drugs. Police also said no illegal drugs were found in the apartment.

Lee Daniels, who produced the critically acclaimed 2001 movie "Monster's Ball," in which Ledger starred, strongly disputed any notion that Ledger had a drug problem.

"The definition of substance abuse is really up to one's perspective," Daniels said. "I didn't see him as a drug addict. I saw him as someone who enjoyed life. I know drug addicts - he was not a drug addict."

The law enforcement officials said three of the drugs were prescribed in Europe. Ledger had recently been filming in London.

Ledger told The New York Times in November that working on the films "The Dark Knight" and "I'm Not There" had been stressful, and that he was struggling with sleeplessness and had taken the sleep aid Ambien.

To many who saw Heath Ledger in the last months of his life, the actor appeared to be happy, healthy and excited - "in a great place," in the words of one friend.

Which only made his sudden end feel more tragic.

Daniels also said the Australian-born actor was in great spirits when they saw each other a few months ago.

"He was in a good mood, he was in a great place ... he was excited about living in New York," Daniels said.

News of the death stunned family, fans and colleagues.

"We have fond and loving memories of a very loving, gentle trickster," his uncle Mike Ledger told The Early Show. "It was his vibrance and personality that really got people together. And that certainly was a trait that he took later on in life into his career."

"Working with Heath was one of the purest joys of my life," said Ang Lee, who directed Ledger to an Oscar nomination in the 2005 film "Brokeback Mountain." "He brought to the role of Ennis more than any of us could have imagined - a thirst for life, for love and for truth, and a vulnerability that made everyone who knew him love him. His death is heartbreaking."

Fans left flowers and candles Wednesday outside Ledger's apartment in Manhattan's tony SoHo neighborhood. Khaled Ali, 41, a stage manager for a Broadway show, dropped off a candle at the apartment building on his way to work, saying he and fellow cast members were devastated.

"I felt a connection with him as an actor, as a fellow in the theater community," he said. "With 'Brokeback Mountain' he touched me personally in telling the story of my community. It was very touching."

Intense roles became Ledger's trademark soon after he got his start in such teen movies as "10 Things I Hate About You." He buried his Australian accent and downplayed his leading-man looks as a sexually confused cowboy in "Brokeback Mountain," a drug addict in "Candy," and an incarnation of Bob Dylan in "I'm Not There."

His role as the Joker in the upcoming Batman movie "The Dark Knight" may be his final finished performance.

Ledger split last year with Michelle Williams, who played his wife in "Brokeback." The two had a daughter, Matilda, now 2.

Mike Ledger told The Early Show that being a father meant everything to the young actor.

"We know that Heath would have wanted to be with her forever," his uncle said.

Williams and Matilda returned to their Brooklyn home Wednesday evening from Trollhattan, Sweden. The 27-year-old actress had been there shooting scenes for the upcoming film "Mammoth," said Martin Stromberg, a spokesman for film production company Memfis Film.

Stromberg said Williams had received the news of Ledger's death at her hotel late Tuesday night.

Streams of reporters and a thicket of satellite trucks on Wednesday surrounded Ledger's Manhattan apartment, where some letters were piled among well-wishers' bouquets and candles.

One handwritten note on plain white paper read:

"Heath, how could anyone hate 10 things about you. We couldn't find one bad thing about you. God bless your soul, you're in our prayers."

Interesting that very little, if anything, ever mentioned "Roar" as part of his past work. IMO he owes a lot of his career to the attention he got doing that series, even if the series did get cancelled. In fact, I thought it was pretty good and he was excellent as the main character.

The only reason I can see someone NOT calling 911 immediately when seeing someone unconscious is that if they assumed something illegal was happening. It doesn't seem like it here, but it's really odd.

Christopher Plummer gives a few statements about the Gilliam film. Interesting quote from Gilliam too.

I'm not saying that her actions caused his death, but it was very foolish of her not to call 911 immediately.

Ledger's death puts last films in a bind

CNN) -- Before he died, Heath Ledger had two films in production: "The Dark Knight," the latest chapter in the Batman saga, and "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus," the latest film from director Terry Gilliam.

Ledger's death has affected both of them in different ways.

The actor, who died Tuesday of unknown causes at age 28, had finished filming "The Dark Knight" late last year. It's due to be released in July. But marketing of the film, currently in post-production, has been thrown into turmoil, the trade paper Variety notes.

The early push for the film has focused on Ledger's villainous Joker character, including a poster with a shrouded Joker scrawling "Why So Serious?" in blood on misty glass.

The film's studio, Warner Bros., recently restructured its marketing department, Variety reports, after the departure of the executive who helped create the "Dark Knight" campaign. (Warner Bros., like CNN, is a unit of Time Warner.)

The trade paper speculates that the marketing campaign will be changed abruptly.

The studio put out a statement Tuesday saying it was "stunned and devastated" by the news of Ledger's death. "The entertainment community has lost an enormous talent. Heath was a brilliant actor and an exceptional person. Our hearts go out to his family and friends," the statement said. Watch colleagues' memories of Heath Ledger »

With the Joker, Ledger was taking on a role that Jack Nicholson had rendered indelibly in 1989's "Batman." But "Dark Knight" director Christopher Nolan said the actor had more than measured up to Nicholson. "To be perfectly honest ... what he's doing is indescribable. He's figured it out," Nolan told the crowd at an August comic book convention in Chicago. Interactive: The life of Heath Ledger »

The role as arch villain The Joker disturbed Ledger, according to The Associated Press. He called the character a "psychopathic, mass-murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy."

Although unusual, Ledger's death does not mark the first time a major star has died while a film has been in production.

Perhaps the most famous example is James Dean, who died in September 1955, before post-production on "Giant" had finished. Dean's dialogue in the film's final scene had to be re-recorded, Variety observes, because he had mumbled in the shot. (Dean and director George Stevens famously clashed during filming.)

Dean was nominated for an Oscar for his performance, his second posthumous Oscar nomination after "East of Eden."

Brandon Lee died during filming of 1994's "The Crow," prompting director Alex Proyas to use a stunt double and special effects. Oliver Reed had a heart attack during the making of 2000's "Gladiator"; technology made it possible for director Ridley Scott to use a double as a stand-in with Reed's face computer-generated in.

Gilliam's film, which concerns prime Gilliam material such as a magic mirror, a traveling show, the devil and a rougish character played by Ledger, is more problematic.

The cast had just completed filming in London, which actor Christopher Plummer characterized as "cold as bejesus" to Entertainment Weekly.
"You know how damp it gets in London. And at night the temperature drops horribly, and that little breeze gets up. You have to wear tons of stuff," he said.

Plummer said that Ledger had a "terrible, lingering bug in London, and he couldn't sleep at all. We all -- I thought he'd probably got walking pneumonia," he told EW.

Gilliam has had challenges before. During the making of his film "The Man Who Killed Don Quixote," the Monty Python troupe member coped with filming near a NATO shooting range, a flash flood and a star with a herniated disc, a final indignity that prompted financiers to pull the plug.

But nothing approaches Ledger's death. Indeed, part of the reason Gilliam was able to obtain the film's relatively paltry $30 million financing was because of Ledger's agreement to star, according to Variety.

Ledger and Gilliam had become close during the making of Gilliam's "The Brothers Grimm" and Ledger had plans to become a feature director himself, several sources have reported. The actor had directed a handful of music videos, including one for Ben Harper, with whom he formed a record company.

Last month, Gilliam told Variety, "He's going to be a much better director than I will ever be."

Plummer told EW that "Parnassus" had "an enormous amount left to do." After a short break, the cast was going to re-convene in Vancouver, British Columbia, primarily for technical and special-effects work.

"God knows what's going to happen now," Plummer said

That's what I was thinking, too. Hell, DVD Empire is doing the exact same thing on their front page, and I don't hear anyone bitching about them. The employees at Best Buy don't get bothered about where a certain Ledger film is, and they also get to unload their dusty, unwanted copies of The Order and Lords of Dogtown onto unsuspecting customers. That display was a smart move.

While it is foolish, with famous ODs it is not unheard-of for there to be cleanup around the body (getting rid of pills, needles, etc.) before police/paramedics are called in to the scene.

Something about the way radio stations act just really bothers me. In DC there is a special "game" after any celebrity dies called, "He died, you win." Pretty sick stuff.

One of the sad things about this, beyond the more obvious ones, is that since the autopsy was inconclusive, this 10-14 days (before lab results) is going to be filled with ugliness. People dissing him for suicide, people dissing him for a drug overdose, people convinced it was a freak accident, angry at the rest... Some eager to believe the worst, some eager to believe the best...

The tabloids will have an even bigger field day since the truth, whatever it is, will be so late in coming.

There's nothing mean-spirited about "He Died, You Win" on Elliot in the Morning. It's just trivia questions about their life. They're not celebrating their death, more like remembering the life they had. Tasteless and insensitive yes, but saying it's sick is a bit much. Elliot is one of those few people who seems like he's nice and good-spirited to everybody....
