I think the fact you describe movies with the words "slower" and "slowest" is pretty telling as to why you did not like NCFOM.

I think what you've learned from this thread is you should probably stay away from movies deemed as Oscar winning masterpieces.

For the love of God, please don't see There Will Be Blood.

I will watch anything at least once.
As for staying away from Oscar winning masterpieces, I do not currently own any at this time, I even saw that Crash won in 2005 and I really did not care for that film at all.

NCFOM had a lot to do with the poor ending, aside from that, it was not too slow, I am not really drawn to own or re-watch slower paced films. I am not saying these films are all poorly done, only that the subject matter and or story is not to be liking.

I will have to Google There Will Be Blood.

I somewhat enjoyed There Will Be Blood, but disliked No Country.

Saw it yesterday for the fourth time and I have to say that IMO it is the best Coen Brothers film.
Top notch acting, directing, cinematography, you name it.

5/5

Thanks for re-opening this thread inri222-
I liked this movie a lot and have appreciated all of the Coen brothers films. Ironically, I have been trying to see their latest film, "Inside Llewyns Davis" but schedule conflicts have prevented me. In the meantime, I was thinking of watching a Coen brothers movie tonight; you and this thread helped me to decide on watch NCFOM...Thanks again!

NCFOM had a lot to do with the poor ending
I could have done without Chighur getting in a car accident, but I loved Tommy Lee Jones' charcter talking about the dreams involving his father.

Well it is a 'thinking man's' crime drama, i.e., deep. Heck the big shootout at the motel where Josh Brolin's 'main' character is resolved (heh no spoiler here!) is NOT EVEN ENACTED or SHOWN. It is a well-done Good vs Evil saga to me.

Yeah. I didn't need to see the big shoot out. The aftermath was enough to see how much deep shit there was to fall in.
