Hollywood has produced thousands of feature films in the Western genre in the past 100 years, which means there are easily hundreds of films that portray Native Americans as the OP describes. So why stretch at all?

"May refer" but clearly not what is being referred to in this thread. Thread topic, as presented, does not require any thinking outside the box.

The thread topic, as presented, was also for a class seminar 15 years ago. I don't think the OP is looking for any more suggestions. Why not let people think outside the box if they so please?

Because Avatar wasn't produced 100 years ago and still uses the same old cliches.

JarJar Binks is an alien and still a pretty offensive stereotype of a Jamaican.

I think that by this time everyone recognizes that the Na'vi are stand-ins for indigenous peoples who historically have been forcibly displaced by Europeans and Americans of European ancestry.

They're not non-white, they're blue. They don't have gold under their tribal land, it's unobtanium. It's not the New World, it's a new world. The superimposition is obvious.
