Hollywood has produced thousands of feature films in the Western genre in the past 100 years, which means there are easily hundreds of films that portray Native Americans as the OP describes. So why stretch at all?

They're not non-white, they're blue. They don't have gold under their tribal land, it's unobtanium. It's not the New World, it's a new world. The superimposition is obvious.
