No offense..but..I barely know who he is but I'm sure he's not a "good" enough actor for this. And this is a horror film we're talking about.

From HeatVision:
And Im now officially sold on Scream 4!
"Community's" Alison Brie is the newest to volunteer for the horrors of "Scream 4."

My buddy was supposed to be cast as a teacher for this film (small role, non-talking part)... he received the message too late and missed his opportunity. What a bummer.

If this news is true, you can count me the fuck out of this outing.

Craven responded back on his Twitter:
However, that doesn't address the Ehren Kruger issue.

Zap2it has learned that the slasher flick's script is now in the hands of Ehren Kruger, not the creator of the franchise, Kevin Williamson.
In fact, word is that Williamson's involvement with the project has come to an end entirely -- meaning "Scream 5" is a no-go at this time.
Kruger's writing resume includes "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" and "The Ring," and more significantly, "Scream 3." While the first two "Scream" movies, penned by Williamson, were adored by fans and critics alike, "Scream 3" was... well, not.
Hayden Panettiere's role, which one source says "used to be really sharp" has now been "dumbed down significantly." The actress is "beyond frustrated with the changes." Another source says that Lake Bell, who had to drop out of "Scream 4" due to scheduling changes, "dodged a bullet."
To make up for the actors that have dropped out of the production, Alison Brie, Marley Shelton, Erik Knudson, and Adam Brody have all signed on recently.
What gives, Wes Craven? You're supposed to butcher Ghostface's victims... not the script.

If Williamson is no longer involved, you can probably count me out too. I might rent it eventually.
EDIT:
Okay, I just found this update on Shock Til You Drop:
Okay, here's what a source close to the production called to tell me this morning. Yes, Ehren Kruger has been brought in to do a bit of polishing. But no, Williamson isn't "out" by any means. As you know, he's also working hard on the second season of Vampire Diaries for the CW. While he's away fulfilling his commitments on that show, the production called upon Kruger to assist on the script.

Kruger? And here I was concerned about how good of a script Williamson could turn in. Kruger will ensure this is dumbed down as much as possible. I don't buy the PR on his involvement being for a simple polish.

The thing I don't understand, is I liked some of Kruger's work. I thought Arlington Road was great and I loved The Ring. Unfortunately everything else he's done I haven't really been a fan of.

With the exception of Arlington Road, I hated the following scripts:
Scream 3
Reindeer Games
Imposter
The Ring
The Ring Two
The Skeleton Key
The Brothers Grimm
Blood and Chocolate
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Which is the rest of his career. He's a younger Akiva Goldsman.

It seemed for awhile that all the news on this movie was good, but of late, it all just keeps sounding awful. I really want this to be fun too, but this Kruger news doesnt instill hope.

Why don't they just have the script 100 fucking percent ready to go when they start filming and stick with it?

I don't know anything about Justin Beiber (his music, his movies), but I do know that he is a complete dumbass. Someone that doesn't deserve fame or attention. I hope he ends up burned out on drugs.
I will avoid anything with his name like the plague.
The writer in question, i'd still see his films, only to be constantly disappointed, since he somehow still gets his name attached to big projects I already have an interest in seeing. Including this sure-to-be turdfest.

Kruger...Williamson...what's the difference. Both men have not written anything of note lately, both got noticed with scripts that thought they were more clever than they actually were and both have revealed themselves to be the utter hacks that they are. If Kruger is taking over, it is not a step down; more of a horizontal move.

That's the Hollywood way of doing things, unfortunately.
