Little early, isn't it?

You're right. This will clearly kill any momentum the picture has and it'll tank as a result.

Didn't the Fellowship teaser come out a year before as well? That was a deal-breaker for me.

I believe there is a teaser of the preview for the trailer floating around online.

Now THAT's a trailer.

Shows TDKRs how it's done. This I'm excited for.

And hey I can actually understand the characters!

Wow. That's everything I hoped it would be.

Re: The Hobbit

I'm not amazed or displeased by it. It gave me what I expected from PJ. Great recreation of that world for sure. Didn't give me anything to get excited for..but I will see it on opening day. I await a fuller theatrical trailer to get me excited.

For some reason all I saw was a red X until I edited your post.

ANyhoo, I didn't really dig the trailer per sé (it didn't flow at all) but I did like the visuals and the song the Dwarves were singing.

What, you expect Peter Jackson to dumb it down?

Don't worry. I'm slightly more than 50/50 Smaug will be in the movie. ;)

Personally I'd rather not see anything of Smaug (no images, no video, no nothing) until I see him in the actual movie. Can't wait to see that character come to life.

Smaug probably

Spoiler:
won't be in this movie. He'll be in the second one (2013). If there are flashbacks, he'll no doubt be handled the way the same way they did with Gollum in FOTR

It doesn't even look like they missed a beat in the 10 years that's passed. Damn.

Good point.

By the way, the trailer looked amazing. Then again, it would have had to have been the worst trailer in movie history to temper my excitement even a smidge.
