I'm waiting for news that Lawrence Makoare has been cast to play Lurtz in a psychedelic dream brought on by Bilbo putting on the ring for the first time.

Legolas is an elf, so is old enough to be around during the time of the Hobbit, even if he didn't appear in the original book. Not sure why you balked on Legolas but not Galadriel, who didn't appear in the book either.

I don't think "balked" is the right word, just confused. In answer to your question, maybe because Galadriel is some head honcho elf chick, and Legolas is just some elf. I hope it doesn't have that "Worf in the Star Trek TNG movies" vibe.

"Worf, what are you doing here??"

"I was on my way to..."

"Yeah yeah yeah, anywaaaaay..." *Explanation conveniently swept under the rug with a l'il wink at the audience.

I could maybe see why Galadriel would be in it, if she's like visiting Rivendell or something. But there's no need to put Legolas in it, other than to get the tween girls to go see the movie again. ;)

Is Orlando Bloom still a hot piece of tween meat 10 years later?

No, but the tweens who lusted after him then are now lusty housewives!

We're talking about lusty housewives, though. Look at all the lust oozing off of her! Though, I'm probably waaaaaay off base on the "wife" part.

You put a quarter in there and the whole scene comes to life.

Re: The Hobbit

The Hobbit delayed, yet again:

Budget blow-outs, an industrial dispute, even a race row have threatened to derail the latest JRR Tolkien blockbuster, The Hobbit. To that list can now be added a perforated ulcer, courtesy of director Sir Peter Jackson, who was taken to hospital in the New Zealand capital, Wellington, on Wednesday. Jackson, who had severe stomach pains, underwent surgery and is expected to make a full recovery, according to his publicist. But the illness will delay the start of filming in his native New Zealand of the two-part prequel to the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

I'm hoping all these obstacles will be overcome and both these movies will be amazing.

I'm curious about other movies that suffered through delay after delay but then were finally released years after they were initially thought to have been released turned out. Anybody have any examples?

Eyes Wide Shut went through a lot of delays and I thought it turned out well. Although, I wish Kubrick could have hung on long enough that the digital censoring controversy could have been avoided.
